It has been sunny and warm today, and Richard took Zola to the breakwater -Zola walked the length of it two and a half times ! He was a tired little chap when he came back ! If you Google Bude breakwater, you can see how long it is,and he is quite small - but very determined ! A lot of people were around -but very few dogs, fortunately !
Love to all from Angie xxxxxx and Zola xxxxxxxx

Good evening everyone!

Yes I'll Google that Breakwater Angie. What a lot of exercise Zola had! Jacky did quite a bit of climbing in her enclosure before making a mess but looking to getting her outside tomorrow. Yes I remember seeing lots of pheasants in the Northamptonshire countryside when I studied at Nene College.

Goodnight everyone

Good evening everyone!

I've had a very busy day with my first alfresco dining of the year! Zola and Dickie I bet you've been out today. How about you two Sherman and Tank? Natrah cleaned my enclosure because I made a mess whilst I had a drowning session. I then went outside for some sunbathing and breakfast. I also did some climbing and got plenty of exercise. I did go back into the enclosure a couple of times but then I went out three times and now I'm going to bed.

Goodnight everyone

Yes Dickie has been out most of the day. She is eating a lot better now it’s warmer but only outside of course. I’m sure Sherman & Tank would have been out too. It’s been a lovely day.
George went to the vet for his blood test to check on his B12 levels but he was too much of a handful & they couldn’t do it! The vet reckons he was already agitated because of the dogs in the waiting room & someone brought in a reactive dog & it caused mayhem. Poor George.
They have given us some gabapentin to give him to calm him down the night before & the morning of his next appt on Monday but I’m thinking of cancelling it as I am aware of how stressful this is for him & he’s not a young cat. We were told we could just monitor him & see if the symptoms came back or have the blood test but I’m erring on the former now.
Funeral tomorrow for the lady whose birds we took on. It’s been over 2 months since she died & due to various reasons the funeral has been delayed. I’ll be glad when it’s over as it’s a burial. Will be a bit awkward as her family have now put in an appearance having been absent in her life for years 😡

Dear Sue,

I hope the funeral goes okay and I'm sorry it was delayed. I'm going to a funeral as well. It is the funeral a dear friend and fellow Piano Teacher who I knew when I first became a Piano Teacher and we were both members of the European Piano Teachers Association. The funeral is at 10.00 am and the wake is at 11.30 am until 1.30 pm. After the funeral out Southend Crematorium I will be going over to the cemetery to pay flowers on mum and dad's graves before going to the wake. Unfortunately some mindless unmentionables vandalised the cemetery and whilst I don't think my parents graves are affected it was sad to see the pictures in the paper. I suppose these people were too ignorant to think that their loved ones could be there one day😡.

I hope George is okay our vets has a special corner for cats in the waiting room.

Yes the service went well thanks, didn’t go for tea & cake in cafe after as needed to go home first so we went later when all was quiet. Hope yours went well too.
George seems ok. There is a small corner for cats at the vets but the room isn’t very big as it’s a clinic of the main practice in Towcester. It is virtually impossible to separate dogs from dogs & although the owner of the reactive dog stood outside beforehand, they still had to walk through the waiting room which is when it lunged at the other dogs. When it left they cleared the waiting room beforehand. I’m hoping George has forgotten the experience!
People who desecrate graves are particularly mindless & insensitive & I doubt they gave a thought to the people it would upset. I hope they are caught & punished. Unfortunately our justice system will probably give them a slap on the wrist or a fine😡

Yesterday was sunny and Zola had a long walk on the breakwater, where he met a group of Lithuanians -two families, with 3 small children each. They loved Zola, and ended up with all 6 children crouched down in a circle round Zola, stroking him and touching him gently. As I'm sure I have mentioned before, Zola loves shoes, and being in the middle of a ring with 12 little feet surrounding him was ecstacy for him ! He really enjoyed it, and so did the children !
Today has been cold and grim for most of the day - I had to go to the health centre for a blood test, and all the sunshine had gone by the time we got back ! We are hesitating putting the heating on, as it is oil-fired, and we haven't got much oil left. We have an electric hot water heater, luckily.
Love to all from Angie xxxxx and Zola xxxxxx

Good evening everyone!

Sue I'm pleased the service went well my friend's funeral went well although couldn't hear what vicar was saying because he spoke very quietly. It was beautiful service opening with some Chopin and closing with Nat King Cole. After the service I went over the road to the cemetery before going to the wake.

Southend Council did a very good job of clearing after the mindless morons and I hope that the relatives saw the possessions of loved ones scattered all over the place. Mum and dad's graves were okay and they are adorned with tulips. I then walked back to the cemetery entrance to call a taxi to take me to the wake. I said to the operator that I was at the cemetery and I sat on the seat watching a taxi going into the crematorium! Anyway the taxi said he was there and I said I'm at the cemetery but anyway I got to the wake.

My friend would have been very proud of her sons and their families and before leaving everyone was asked to pick up a little box that used to belong to my friend. Angie I chose an eastern looking box that had a note saying Woolacombe in it!

It was still quite warm here and Jacky spent more time outside. Those children must have been delighted to see Zola and it made their day. When I walked through the cemetery I heard a wren and also a green woodpecker. Mum was a keen ornithologist and she would have loved to have heard them.

I hope you're blood test is okay Angie. I need to have my thyroid tested again in a few months and knowing my surgery I will have to contact them!

Goodnight everyone

Sorry everyone and Sue @MoggyMad I left out quite a few words here and I want to say that I hope the relatives didn't see their loved ones possessions all over the place.

My iPad often does that & my mobile is too temperamental to type much so no worries. I think we could fill in the gaps!

Good evening everyone!

Zola, Dickie, Sherman, Tank and Edward sadly I didn't get out today because Natrah said it was too cold so I climbed all over my bedding and did some sunbathing under my favourite lamp! Anyway I ate well before burying myself under the green carpet strips to read the tortoise news. Sue you mention filling in the gaps but Natrah has been talking about some people who she calls mindless morons in the cemetery I wish I could bite them!

Goodnight everyone

Dear all - yesterday Richard noticed what he thought was a swallow flying into our carport, and this morning we found 3 "presents" on the car , in approximately the usual area- a hopeful sign that they may be coming to nest again with us this year ! We really hope so - we feel so proud of the babies, and so honoured to think that they choose to fly thousands of miles to be back with us again - to think that they have some sort of map in their minds to bring them back to us !

Dear Angie,

They could probably do a better job than the taxi drivers here in Southend. Several times I have been taken to the Hadleigh Rare Breeds Centre instead of the concert venue at Hadleigh Salvation Army Citadel, several times a taxi would turn up at a sheltered housing complex which has a similar name to dad's care home and of course yesterday my taxi turned up at the crematorium instead of the cemetery. Also they parked where they're not supposed to park and they would have been in trouble if there had been a hearse!

How lovely to have the swallows again.

Goodnight everyone

Natrah

Definately we could all give them a bite & a good shove. I’m sure Zola would catch them if they tried to escape & Sherman & Tank could sit on them until the police arrived. Edward would make sure the police came to the right place not like the taxi drivers 😋

It was very windy last night, and I hardly slept at all, as the wind was blowing directly at my window - luckily neither Richard nor Zola had this problem. We went out to look at the sea, anyway - still very windy- and Richard took his camera, as we were hoping these little chaps would be around - and they were !

Good morning tortoises!

After my latest drowning session I bashed the plant food bottle, climbed all over the bathroom scales before tackling Mount Everest 🤣🤣🤣!
