Dear Natrah - I hope you have recovered from yesterday now. It has been very sunny and warm, and Zola had a long walk on the breakwater, where he met a family who had been inspired to get a tortoise through meeting him last year !
I have been struggling a bit -very shaky, and also having one eye functioning pretty well - and the other pretty poorly- seems to make my headaches worse - I hope I can have the second op soon. I have phoned the hospital and said I would be delighted to go in at short notice, if they had a cancellation -that does happen fairly often, I'm told.
Anyway,I hope Jacky will look after you properly, and let you have a nice rest.
Love to all from Angie xxxxxxxx.

I am so sorry to hear about your headaches.
Maybe if you told them it was an emergency they would speed things up?
Tell them (which is true) you are getting dizzy spells and falling down a lot. That should make them get on their mark! 😩

Good evening everyone!

Sorry this is short but I have to be up early for the plumber who is coming to fix a leaking tap. I have been looking at photos of beautiful Zola and Angie I hope you get an appointment for your other eye soon. Here's more of Jacky:

Goodnight everyone

Here is a photo of Zola very soon after he first came to us - the little box of matches is to give an idea of his size, but Richard says people in the USA never had small boxes like this, so it will be meaningless to you, perhaps, Chef, though familiar to UK residents !

Good evening everyone!

Zola's very cute but he would've been able to move much quicker at that size so I bet you had to keep your eyes on him at all times. I remember mum saying how quickly Daisy could move when she was smoother. The taps have been fixed but the poor plumber had to turn the water off in the loft and I had to get one of the neighbours to open the staircase door but anyway it's all fixed now. I saw my first Meadow Brown Butterfly behind the flat on Sunday and whilst I was looking at him the Robin turned up and kept me company. It's been quite warm today so Jacky went out and I expect Zola, Dickie, Sherman and Tank were as well.

Goodnight everyone

Dear Angie and Richard,

Yes, we do have match boxes 📦 here in the states. I haven’t seen one in quite some time but we used to steal my grandma’s when we were little so she would stop smoking. 😝
I know how you feel about the size of Zola when he was little. I remember when my Sally fit into the palm of my hand!!!🖐️
I know that tortoises are not allowed to be sold before they are 4” in size over here; so we had to wait for two weeks before the guy would sell her to us.
So small.. so innocent.. so scared….
…..
Now, she runs the house!!
She tells us to “jump!”
and we ask her, “how high?” 🤣

We just came off of a horrible weekend.
She had a problem with her bumm…
It was over stretched from pooping ?
When I say bad…. I mean BAAAAAAAD!
We had her in the tub with warm water for hours until 2am! That’s when she calmed down and stopped thrashing her back legs about and banging around in the tub.
I had to change the water every 2 hours or so.
Sunday I was dead on my feet….
Things are getting back to “normal” slowly…
But boy, what a nightmare!
That’s only ONE of my weekend problems though…😩

Dickie was out early (for her) yesterday . She stayed out until late afternoon which was good staying mainly in the border in the shade. Quite often you can hear her moving beneath the plants like she’s exploring a jungle! It is a bit overgrown & untamed! She is eating well as long as you hand feed her, she’s 7lb 2oz which is the heaviest she’s ever been.
George also went to the vet for his solencia injection & flea prevention treatment which the nurse dabbed on top of his head. It has to go somewhere where it can’t be licked off, usually on the back of the neck so that was different!
After that we went to our usual cafe for lunch. On the walk over after parking Pete & myself were nearly in a collision with a Voi scooter riding illegally on the path. It approached from behind just whizzing past me, didn’t hear it, then almost hit Pete as he stepped aside to pass someone. The rider had to do an emergency stop & I heard the tyres screech. Could have been nasty. He kept apologising but I was so mad & poked him on his back telling him he shouldn’t have been riding on the path 😡
Once we’d had lunch we went to a local plant shop & got my usual hanging baskets to brighten up the house. So bit of an eventful day!

Dear Chef - I'm so sorry about poor Sally - that sounds horrible. had she been eating something different to set this off? It's really frustrating seeing your baby suffering and not being able to help much, isn't it ! We are very lucky that Zola has stayed so healthy all his life since he came to us. He wasn't entirely well at first, but I think that was probably the stress of being transported from Holland to Devon, when he was so new and tiny.
Please give the poor invalid our love and sympathy

Good evening everyone!

I am here but it's very slow logging in and I'm just wondering if anyone else is having issues.

Goodnight
