I have done a lot of reading on the proper number of tortoises to house together. It seems that a pair is a very poor idea or an upset in the making? I have also read that red foots can be the exception to the 1 or more than 2 rule of thumb. Right now I have "a pair" (or 2) they are both 6 months old or less and am contemplating a 3rd one so that they can all grow up together IF it is truly better for them? Now don't get me wrong I am probably already an addict so a third one is not without reason for me and I would not purchase another little cutie just to possibly prevent trouble but I want to make sure a third purchase is done with do diligence, as I am aware that a third will change the housing needed greatly as they grow older???? All kind thoughts are appreciated! Thanks

One is best. Two is usually a problem. Three or more juveniles will usually work well.

When they all reach adulthood, you might have a problem if more than one is male. Its possible that you'd have to separate them all and house them individually.
