Marbling on Pio is starting to fill in nicely now. He is almost 6 in. and 27 months old. That is another thing I love about the Cherryhead's. When I got Pio from Tom, he didn't have much color, so he wasn't as expensive, but I really wanted one, so I didn't care. That marbling was just an unexpected bonus for me.Tom did tell me he was a Brazilian Cherry Head.

Just a hair before 6 in. Why? Do you think he's too big for his age? Maybe I'm feeding him too much???

Most of my yearlings are 4+" SCL.. and they usually grow an inch+ each year until they are 8".. then their growth slows down.

Based on the looks and size of Pio.. TerryO has done a fantastic job!!!

Not to fear TerryO...

BTW.. I think the 'color' Tom was talking about was the 'head' colors.

When I opened the shipping box in early Sept. '05 [ see date in pic ] this guy was just shy 7" SCL. Four years later he is my "ALPHA" male @ 9 1/2" SCL! And he DOES like the girls. I just love that PLASTRON 'marbling' -

So that's probly what I like about the Brazilian 'Cherryhead'...

The first thing is their coloring, with the marbling being very attractive to me. Then the fact that they do tend to be more vibrant in head/leg coloring. They just tend to grab your eye quicker then the "plain" redfoots (which aren't plain:rolleyes:...lol). I have one, who once she grabs your eye, her outstanding personality continues to hold you.

to me Its just like a red nose pit bull and a normal pit. They're both pits bulls. I like their orange colors more than the actual red(I still like the red, don't get me wrong). The red reminds me of Darth vader(return of the sith).
All in all,their plain beautiful.

Like any species of animal there are those that stand out among the rest. To me, a true cherry colored cherry head is a beautiful animal and easy on the eyes. However there are some nice Northern variants "Banana Heads" whose vibrant yellows rival those of cherry heads. In the past I may have preferred CH over other locales but I've come to appreciate the unique differences of each.
