It's a great movie....i think in that one they fight a deadline for the geese to arrive....no i won't spoil it.

Funny how we get into a genre of entertainment. I've been watching alien invasion movies....but last night I fell back on a tried and true favorite, the Die Hard series.

A couple of days ago, we went to see if there were any wild violets on the edge of a nearby wood - we had seen some in previous years - Devon where we live, in the UK, is famous for its lovely perfumed violets - however, this year there weren't as many, because the area had been partly cut back.Still, I found this photo of Zola amongst them in a previous year, and I thought other people might like to see it too .....

Togo is another good one about a sled dog with a wonderful heart. The visuals truly fit what that dog did for his human. It's a based on a true story Disney movie. It's also an Alaskan legend of history.

The snow has been slowly piling up during the winter and now we have about 43 cm or 17 inches. In the North it is obviously deeper than this, about double as much, and in the south there is less than here.

One of the mama doe's is deciding to give birth in the back yard or next to our shed again. She has been laying in both places for a week. She doesn't jump up when I go outside nor did she move when I got a rake from the shed. It scares me sometimes because I'm not expecting to see a face looking at me. I don't even mention it anymore since it happens nearly every day. I will walk out like I did yesterday and 40 feet away an eight point buck was staring at me then an hour later Kerry and I watched a big buck and smaller buck play fighting with their antlers.

Sorry N that you are still fighting that cold!

Unfortunately it will melt a little soon as it gets above 0C, though it won't melt fully until April or May and surely there is still more snow to come this winter.

I have several already but I have to find them. One is a little toad that let me take pictures. Practically posed for the pictures he was relaxing on a little bag of coke cans that had become wet from a summer rain

I actually had 70°f and no snow. And of course Monday when I have to go get shot a couple of times IT'S A WEATHER ALERT day. Yee haw it's going to snow again on the only day I have to go out for awhile. I think mother nature is out to get me

One year, a tiny and very young toad appeared outside our kitchen door - it was extremely cold weather, and we didn't think it would survive, so we brought it in -fortunately we discovered that it ate mealworms. and we already had lots of them always to feed the wild birds. We called him Bonus, and he grew much bigger and became very friendly.Here he is enjoying me reading to him......

Many years ago, when I started teaching infants, a little boy brought a toad to school to show us- his dad had found it on a building site - I thought it was a great name,and told the boy that
if ever I was lucky enough to have one, I would call it Bonus, too -and I did ! Our little chap lived for quite a while, and we thought he was wonderful.

Well someone is having a real bad day today but Matt is just doing stupid turtle things. He wears his hide like a 2nd shell and walks around his enclosure. A goof or incredibly efficient? Lol

I figured when the Chinese are bugging out, someone made a call and it might be a sign. God bless those courageous folks.

It's near 60F today so we got out of here for a walk around the neighborhood. Lots of folks enjoying the nice weather. We still have ice from the Jan 24th storm!

I wish I could easily find a picture of one the little baby toads that lived in Sapphire's outdoor enclosure. I have a picture of one sitting on a shallow water dish. By the time it was time for Sapphire to be outside daily they always find a place to live somewhere else in the yard. I would stick my little rescues there for safety for a while. As tiny as they were they could easily get in and out until they didn't need to anymore. Bonus is a good name for a toad they eat bugs. You get a friendly free pet that earns his own living and gets rid of pests too.
