Only 2 this year and I think they are adult red admirals. The cold in the fridge puts them back into a dormant state but the lively one has changed positions on the ceiling a few times since I put him back. I'm keeping it quite dark upstairs where they are but I may have to let him take his chances in a few days if he still wants to go.
I just read that they are pretty cheap to feed 🤗got any rotten fruit 😉

Ok it's mid February. That's what Sapphire says is the beginning of spring. They don't poop much if they eat and fly around in your home 😉 what flowers do they eat?🤗
Apart from the one that woke they don't fly around. They've been in the same place on my upstairs ceiling since about the middle of August! I don't know what they eat, but there aren't any flowers around yet - even my camellia is late this year, but does have lots of buds.
The heavy and prolonged frosts and below freezing temps we had this year have killed my lovely hebe shrub. It was dug up from my old school which was due to be demolished when it was about 5 years old, and has been thriving in my garden for the last 6 years but it hasn't survived this year. Another lovely large shrub with silver leaves has gone too - that was about 8 years old. :(

I googled and it says they will eat rotten fruit and some other stuff you could feed if the weather's not quite good yet.🤗

Who wouldn't want a pet butterfly for a while? In your upstairs room ☺️
He's on the landing ceiling between rooms, so at the moment it's easy to keep him from fluttering against windows. I keep all bedroom doors shut and have a blackout curtain across the stairs to block off any light from downstairs windows too so it's really dark up there. I don't know how long they'll be OK with that though.

Got any fruit to put in a dish that's getting old? Maybe. That might give them a little something until they can go outside if they're inclined.

Hey Jeff, I started in the trade working for Campbell in 1968 and retired from the trade in 2002 while working for Campbell. Their were many other companies in between though.
Yes Len, you came in 12 yrs before I did but I did get a chance to meet a lot of the older guys like Stony at TBN when it was back in the Thermatech days, I know Rick Pumphrey and have done a lot of work with those guys. I've worked with the Streeter bros in So MD along with most of the others that I"m not remembering..... but those guys at Campbell have been very good to me over my entire career.

Tommy Hahn was my insulator when I was a very young field foreman and we did the 1st AIDS lab in the country at NIH for Fauci in '82-'83 Bldg #10....Tommy shut down the job due to Asbestos regs......
You will appreciate this; the Specifications actually said "wet down suspected asbestos, remove, bag and dispose in jobsite dumpster" (FYI- even in '82, this was highly illegal). They did the abatement....for $80,000

Then later when I went into the office in 86, Tom Roberts@ Campbell kinda took me under his wing as did Perry Roberts over at United Sheetmetal, Scott OGorman at Johnson Control and others.......as I learned how to estimate, and bid projects around DC.... these were all solid guys.

Tom Roberts gave me that 3600SF of insulation that I'm still using!
Campbell sent me to Orioles opening day for decades......till I stopping going.
and now Mark over there gives me $100 gift cards at Christmas's to give away.
That really doesn't affect business though....It works well for both of us because they have remained competitive and have bid every single job in my career spanning decades that I've asked them to............so of course there's a loyalty there to be paid back, and I do. Everyone in town knows, if it's a large pjt, Campbell will be my insulator & ADJ will likely be my Sheetmetal sub.

Sorry to bore everyone else with "war stories" but it's fun to remember the good folks we worked with.

Ray, I can be down by the weekend if you want to Rip & Run for the weekend.....maybe we can get matching racing chairs to run the town with.....it'll be fun, waddya say?

I don't think there's any alcohol in "sex, drugs & rock & roll" so we're both golden! Those little chippies are still waiting for us.....they might all have grey hair now....but hey, we're not in our primes anymore either! LMAO

Do you REALLY want to stay married? LOL

I wouldn't do that to you brother....besides, Kerry would punch me right in the mouth....
that's what she says and I believe her....there are many upsides and there is only 1 downside to loving a strong independent woman ......she just might be able to!

Ms Cathie, I am trying a lot of new things....I grew up in Ann Arbor pulling Rhubarb straight from the ground and eating it as a kid but never found it as good as an adult. She has a LOT of "weird foods" in her cabinets, stuff I sure don't recognize! LOL

enjoy the day guys........

I like the design in the front. Maybe the little house finches here would like it for a nest under our awning. Every year they try but the awning by itself won't work.🤗

Yes they would. Carolina Wrens especially like to nest in these porch locations. Folks that are tardy in removal of their Christmas wreathes often find wrens nesting there.

Free Wood. An advertisement in our on-line community page that most woodworkers have to stop and at least look at what’s being offered.

Yep. Local guy re-doing an old house with a back woodsy area full of massive trees that have now been pretty much dropped & sawed up.

We made the trek over & we’re back with some very large hunks of wood.

Here’s one small pile of what’s up for grabs.

Yes! Love Red pepper jelly. & Marmite too! 😀
One of my favorite snacks would be red pepper jelly on top of a cream cheese with a good cracker like the original Crunchmaster. I can't find the right jelly here but did find Divina's chili fig spread. It's really nice too😊.

Well...in only one way today sucks 😁 I saw a fly that woke up.dang it. It's mid February for heavens sake 😉 and this stupid fly thinks it's spring (I fried it with 92% alcohol)😜 🌼 Sapphire is starting to think the same though and has been more bright eyed and active today. He was waiting for me when I fed him this morning.🐢 just sitting there in the door of his enclosure looking so cute 🥰

Some of it kinda looks like black walnut.
But it's been along time since I played in the woods cutting down trees.
