I don't know if anyone else on this forum celebrates Robert Burns birthday (the great Scottish poet) but we do, because Richard- (Zola's dad,) was born in Scotland. So we have to have the traditional haggis supper - followed in our case by Scottish ice-cream.We slice and bake the haggis, which is not the traditional way, but is much more edible (the proper way is to boil it, but it's horrible that way ! !)
Here is Zola helping with the preparations -

The temps here dropped to the teens yesterday so we shut down the heat pump and are running our propane fireplace to heat the entire house. It does a good job and we have a 500gal tank so we won't run out.
The sleet is still coming down but ending soon they say. We got quite a bit of drifting and now it's all hard like a rock out there. It's just like ice!😅😅

Good morning everyone!

I hope our friends over the pond are okay I hear they're going to have a massive winter storm!

MaNaAk
We did have a massive snow storm. Right now we have around 8" of snow or so. And it's still snowing. It has been all day and still is until around 9pm. Then it's supposed to snow on and off until 9am 🙃 then extreme freezing temps for the next few days. Thank God I'm not going through the ice storm that is going on with my southern neighbors. They're really going through a tuff time. My prayers are going out for them. My Crab Apple has been decorated with cardinals, chickadees, woodpeckers, Blue Jays, etc etc etc and snow all day. I made sure to feed them to help them survive the cold that's coming.😊 It was ruff for me to even walk through the snow to fill the feeder but so worth the show once I did. I got several pairs of cardinals, doves, chickadees, sparrows, Jays you name it I had it all on a snow covered tree at the same time. So beautiful 🤗

It's not going to get much more but I'll bet MS Cathie got a bunch?
We got so much that it reminds me of the good old days 🤣 that I pray away every year.😁 I guess I was praying for global warming though so... this year I'm praying the good Lord just keeps everyone safe 💕 we probably will get at least 12" by the time it's over.

I'm not sure how much snow Ray saw in Florida but I saw the panhandle did get snow!

In the flavor of the day i took my 4ft by 8ft spa sled to our hill. As i eyed the trees at the bottom, i wasn't too upset when the front end dug in and it wouldn't go down the hill! LOL At least I didn't bash my head against a tree so there's that.

Maybe I'll get the tobaggan down later today. Like MS Cathie, we are supposed to remain very cold all week.

One of our neighbors asked me yesterday if i got into the hot tub....no, I didn't get in when snow is blowing through the screens! Doesn't sound like a good time. Maybe today there won't be so much wind. I shoveled yesterday so I'm a little sore.....or it might just be because im older now?

Why do your neighbours ask if you've had a bath 🤣?

I have been in the hot tub when it is snowing, multiple times. We have these hot tubs powered by wood stoves, and I have been to some in rental cabins or hotels. It's not something I would put my money into though.

Oh I see of course things are different here and the hot tub is regarded as a bath!

We went for a walk on the snow. It's hard enough to walk across the top of the snow, mostly....lol
Here Kerry is making snow angels

No snow for us - we have yellow warnings for rain for tonight and tomorrow and it's pouring down. The council has issued sandbags to shops and businesses along the main road - just in case there is flooding.
Lola has spent most of the day hunkered down in his hide, and apart from a quick trip to the library while it was dry this morning, I've not been far either.
I think the rain needs to save itself for the spring when the crops will need it.

Also even though the weather people say the snow won't be melting anytime soon we get melting in the sun. I watched the snow melt and fall off my van's windows today because I'm too lazy to clean them myself 😉 I mean why bother working myself to death when I'm not allowed on the streets in a level 3 weather emergency anyway. We'll get the ice skating rink the South has soon enough anyway.😊 Time to rest a bit 🐢🐢🐢
