does anybody have any ideas about concrete patio spacing being used for a tortoise enclosure?? we are using our entire space for our hermanns, have a greenhouse/coldframe and a substrate area for him but the rest is concrete, is this ok for him??
we also made a smaller area for our horsefield the same way, substrate tray, upturned plantpots, water dish and rocks but a concrete area not all soil, is this ok?

I think concrete is too abrasive. Can you then cover it with some dirt?

for the smaller enclosure that would be easy to do :) a bit more tricky for the whole yard but maybe if we covered the inside of horaces 6 ft by 3t green house with soil and a little bit outside of it that would work, then if he wanders off around the rest of the yard he'll soon come back to the comfy area after having some exercise...would that work?

Your entire yard is concrete? How big is this yard?

Personally, I wouldn't worry about the concrete. They wont stay on it long, just walk across it. It also would keep their nails trimmed.

yep nearly everybodys are :) unless they have a lawn, otherwise its just concrete or patio, good for us but not so good for torts :( its 18ft by 6ft like long and straight then it wraps around the house another 6ft by 6ft so not exactly massive but our largest tort is only 5 yrs old...
