HOw do you know if your tort is dehydrated? How often should a health 6 yr old tort urinate? I "adopted" my guy after weeks and weeks of research, I know I saved him from a life in a fish tank either way... I thought I had it under control, norotic control but control- I have learned more in two days reading all the past threads on this forum than the weeks I spent with my Nose in books and on the Internet.. keep in mind too that im in central Florida now but lived in south Africa as a child and had the "wild" salcatas walking freely near where I lived. So thank you all and I hope at some point I to will be able to give real experience advise as well as all of you do...

I can't answer how often a tort should urinate - it really depends on the amount of water they have access to and drink. The more they drink, the more they urinate. My leopards drink every day and urinate almost everyday (all over my patio!) Tortoises that are dehydrated often have sunken eyes. By that point, you have a very dehydrated tortoise! Hope that's somewhat helpful. I don't have any sulcatas (other than a foster I have temporarily) so my experiences are based on other types of tortoises. :)

Wow.. Thanks.. This really did help. My guy is good. I'm new to this, Willie is about 6 yrs old, lived in an in door aquarium all the whole time. I " rescued" him from hopefully this life and have researched as much as I can but questions still come up and I want to do the very best I can for him. Both of this information shows me that I'm worrying for nothing. He is good and very happy with his new life in his outdoor enclosure.. Thanks again....
