This is Jennifer!
What Fogger do y’all recommend for an indoor enclosure for our cherry head tortoise? We have got the temps almost perfected but we are struggling with humidity staying right without us spraying the enclosure 3x a day. Any suggestion on a automatic Fogger/mister would be greatly appreciated. Thank you 😊2C06DD70-A413-45E4-AA72-A1F5956BE08F.jpeg

Hello and welcome! :)

Foggers and humidifiers should not be used blowing in to tortoise enclosures, and if you are spraying three times a day, then it is far too dry, and you risk getting things too wet, which will cause shell rot in this species.

The solution is a large closed chamber. Having an open top is like trying to heat your house in winter with no roof on it. It doesn't work. You need to close off the enclosure air from the room air. This will make heating and humidity maintenance easy.

In a correctly set up closed chamber enclosures with a suitable substrate. Either Orchid bark of coco coir or both. You can pour a bit of water into the corners of the enclosure. The substrate will absorb the water and give off humidity as it evaporates. Also leaving the upper layer relatively dry to avoid shell fungus issues.
A closed chamber also holds in warmth.
You want a constant temperature of between 80 and 86. A CHE works great for this and can provide warmth day and night becausd it puts out no light. Humidity needs to be over 70% and you'll need a T5 HO UVB Linear strip florescent tube light to provide your 12 hours of daylight and useable UVB for good health.
