This is my first post on this forum. I'm excited to learn from so many tortoise enthusiasts. My wife and kids bought me my Sulcata tortoise hatchling for my birthday last September. I had done a lot of research and had narrowed my wish list to the Sulcata or Leopard.
The name of my hatchling is Lazzy (short for Lazarus). The short version of how my tortoise got his name is:
The day after getting Lazzy, I received a frantic call from my wife and kids telling my that the tortoise wasn't moving. They called later to say they were sure it was dead. I was devastated. I told them I would take care of it when I got home. Several hours later my family called with exciting news that our little tortoise wasn't dead after all and was now crawling around. My wife still swears that the thing was dead
And so was born 'Lazzy'. Attached is a recent photo of Lazzy soaking.
