That's a sad story and I understand their situation for sure, not being a very financially secure person myself. You did a great kindness and now you're at the limit. You'll do what is best now but it's not easy.

They didn't abandon them exactly
During COVID the father lost his job. The family lost their house. And then there was a cascade of other unfortunate events.
The father lives in an efficiency after a divorce from the wife that lives in a tiny apartment with the daughter.
They had hoped that in 6 months they'd be able to provide a yard for them again. Or something suitable

So they should understand if you can't either but found a good home for them. If it were me in the same situation I would be relieved that my animals were being taken care of since I couldn't. I would be sooo thankful.

Not every family is filled with "high end " persons Z, and that has nothing to do with how much money they have.

I spoke to the father.
I think he's going to surrender the two Cherryhead to me and try to take back his male Northern Redfoot.
I can do that.
It's not ideal. But to be honest, I've had half hatched plans to start a Cherryhead group anyway

He didn't.
God only knows what he does and when.

Well, the adult, Northern male is gone.
I'm not sure exactly when they came and got him. I'm also unsure why my security cameras completely missed everything.
(I gave them permission)
The two Cherryhead are now mine. And they are a pair.
I'll take photos soon and start a new thread

That's kinda' scary, even though he had your permission, to think that someone came on your property and took a tortoise without anyone knowing about it at the time. Are you sure he took the tortoise and not that it has escaped?

I think i'm not following, neither your dog nor your security camera saw anyone get him, but he's now gone. Could it be a coincidence on the timing and he escaped? Seems strange
