Dickie will be glad when Pete gets back, may be she’ll perk up & eat more. She only ate 1 dandelion flower earlier. He’s on his way to the airport now so will be back Sunday morning.
Happy Easter to all

Good evening everyone!

Gosh those two weeks flew by Sue. Did Pete and his friends have a good holiday? I bet you'll be pleased to see him back but you have the 3.00 am miaows again. I enjoyed some cooking and baking today although I would have liked to have sandwiches on the cliffs but the weather was too unpredictable. I bet Zola got his walk. Jacky tends while sitting in her food tray.

Goodnight everyone

They look yummy 😋
They’ve actually been away 3 weeks & judging by the photos & videos have had a wonderful time! Back to reality soon. George has been a good boy mostly!

Hello Natrah -we have had some fairly bad weather here today and yesterday - very windy and cold, so Zola didn't get his walk, though we had a specialiy long fireside stroke. It is really upsetting how much damage the wind is doing to all the blossom on the trees - and lots of young plants have been flattened in people's gardens. But today I've been reading that birds are already starting nesting - and swallows are coming back-and butterflies will also soon be appearing earlier than usual. Nature seems to sort itself out, doesn't it, given a chance.
I hope you are feeling a bit better now, after all the stress of sorting your pension. Your cakes look lovely, and I'm sure they will taste lovely too - I wish we lived near you so we could pop in and try them ! I used to make very good sponge cakes years ago, but nothing like that for a long time now.
Love to all from Angie xxxxxxxxxx and Zola xxxxxxxxxx

Good evening everyone!

Angie I wish you lived nearby as well so that you pop in. I'm feeling much better now and my friend who I met in Tomassi's Restaurant has told me about all these benefits that he's getting because he's on his pension. I think it just seemed a bit daunting with these different pensions. I think Sue would like to live nearby to go to Tomassi's alongwith our friends on Cold Dark Room. I hope your swallows come again this year meanwhile I think our neighbours have Great **** in their garden. In Tomassi's we had: Black Forest Gateau, Italian Black magic and Nutty Chocolate Sundae.

Goodnight everyone

Such beautiful pictures Zola. You are one very loved boy. Thankyou for sharing them with us ❤️
Dickie didn’t find any Easter eggs in the garden, she thinks the Rooks got them first. She hasn’t looked in her little house yet …….😋
She was a little distracted because Pete is now back from his travels & he knows all her hiding places!

Dear Natrah and everyone - we hope you are having a good Easter day.The weather here hasn't been very good, but not really bad either, and tomorrow looks better, so we might be able to go to the bluebell wood to see if the flowers are out yet. There are quite a few random ones by roadsides here, but the wood is a magical place when the bluebells are in full flower there !

Happy Easter Everyone 🐰 🐣!

I managed to the usual theatre for lunch and then a friend arrived a card and it was lovely to see her. She was an old school and she was pleased to see Jacky as well. I'm pleased to see that Pete is back and Zola's pictures are lovely. I hope you two are having a good day Edward and Chef.

Goodnight everyone

Dear Sue - Zola is indeed very much loved - he is basically all the family we have -Richard's siblings are in Canada, and my brother in France, and we are unlikely to ever see them again - so Zola is very precious. He is so loving and trusting, and we just hope he can keep well and happy with us as long as we live, and that we can find someone who will care for him as much as we do when we are no longer there for him.

Life here has returned to normal with Pete spraying the drive with weed killer & painting sealant paint round the top of the garage where the rain found a way in. I’ve been dealing with the mountain of washing Pete bought home & making some soup.
George is snoring in the chair, Dickie is in the garden pretending to hide. Thankfully she ate a little today including a dandelion flower. The budgies have been joining in the chatter on the budgie YouTube videos I play for them. They seem happier together now. Peace & relative quiet for a bank holiday Monday!

Good evening everyone!

It must be lovely to have Pete back Sue but he must be exhausted and you're probably exhausted as well. On the way to Tilbury Town Station I noticed a pheasant at Pitsea and whilst I've seen the odd one near Two Tree Island I usually see them in North Essex. I also saw Little Egrets, Shelduck, Goldfinches and other little birds flying around but I remember that Angie and Zola had a very friendly pheasant a few years ago. Does he still visit Angie? Also Sue is George back to 3 am alarm calls?

Goodnight everyone

I am now back to my university city with Edward after my Easter holiday. We get about a week off in uni, meanwhile in primary schools and high schools only the important days are off. Last night it had snowed in my home town but it all had melted by the time we took a bus here.

During my Easter holiday I visited Berlin with my dad and two siblings. I noticed that the spring was further on in there and every time I saw a dandelion flowers I thought of Edward and how we don't have them in Finland yet. I will have to dig through my photos to figure out when I found the first ones last year.

hello Natrah -no, Clarence the pheasant hasn't been around for several years now - apart from people shooting them, pheasants are liable to wander on to roads and get run over - they are not the most intelligent of birds. I did feel I had a bond with him, as a result of looking after him when he injured his leg, but eventually he decided he needed to find a female, I think -and we never saw him again.
Richard took Zola to the breakwater, as it was really warm and sunny - he was afraid there would be crowds of people, but there weren't many, and no-one had a dog ,so Zola had a very good walk ! Richard did see a heron flying overhead -and we have goldfinches in the back garden all the time - i can watch them when I'm washing up.! We also have a female chaffinch around who is very swollen-looking, and just sits in a food tray all the time - there must be something seriously wrong, but there is no way we can catch her - and, of course, we hope she isn't spreading an infection around.I wondered if it could be to do with her eggs - any ideas ?
Love to all from Angie and an exhausted Zola xxxxxxxxxx

George stayed downstairs last night although the door was open for him to come upstairs which he did at about 7am. I’m tired & so is Pete having had no sleep since Friday when he got home Sunday morning. I was expecting him to go to bed & planned a no noise day but he decided to stay up until bedtime but he did doze off early evening when I doing dinner.
They loved their holiday but the travel time on the airplanes isn’t something he’d do again in a hurry!
We see pheasants around near the roads for some reason. They don’t have much road sense unfortunately. There used to be visiting pheasants at Petes dad’s house. The males are especially beautiful. Obviously escaped from a shoot somewhere.
@zolasmum has the chaffinch got a swollen looking throat? Sadly we see this often mostly in doves & pigeons but it can affect other birds. If it’s this it’s likely Trichomonosis which is caused by a parasite. We have managed to catch a couple of doves but in order to do so they were very sick & were put to sleep at the vets. It is unfortunately contagious, spread on bird tables & baths. If it’s not this then I’m guessing it could be eggbound if swollen around the back end. Again not a good outcome.

Our schools get 2 weeks off at Easter & Christmas, a week at half term & about 6 weeks in summer. We also have something called Baker days which are tagged on to the end of some holidays. They are teacher training days (no pupils) although when I was at school they didn’t exist. The uni’s seem to get similar holidays, maybe a bit longer.
Dandelions are about now in abundance here where I live, mainly along sunny grass verges next to roads where it’s difficult to stop & pick them. Dickie is strange, she will only eat them freshly picked so we can’t pick any if we’re not likely to be home for a few hours!
You mentioned catkins in a previous post. The young silver birch near us produced some a few days ago & storm Dave at the weekend blew them all off.
