More pics of Watson after I disturbed his nap ? Side note do you think my guy is pyramiding? I know he is growing but there are small divot looking marks on the black part of his shell, you can kind of see on 3rd picture... it’s so hard not to feed him grocery greens but living I Arizona nothing is growing in 110 degree heat. He has a controlled enclosure inside of course...View attachment 301520

There was something I was wondering... other than weight, what is the best way to tell they are growing? What do the growth lines look like? On my leopard its super easy, but im not sure with her...

I chart my guys weight and length of shell monthly on an excel sheet... and it’s been a steady increase. He currently weighs 208 grams and is a little over 4 in and he will be 1 year old

I have only weighted her once, because honestly I'm so forgetful its not even funny lol. I know she weighed 295g last week or so and she is about 5 in and her age is unknown. We guesstimated 2 or 3 ?‍♀️

Oh cool! Is it common for them to be so outgoing that young? My leopard is a scaredy cat and he's about 10 months ish supposedly, but Chi Chi is all about being social. Atleast in tortoise terms lol
Usually ya, Redfoots are probably the most social/curious torts there are. I think the younger you get them the better too. Murphy is a little more timid then my other tort Marge. He was probably slightly bigger than what your tort is when I got him. So I have no idea what he endured before coming to me. Marge hatched on my kitchen table and I was the first thing she saw. So she seems to have no fear. I guess because this place is all she has ever known.

I will be honest, one of the main reasons I got my leopard is because there where so many articles about how personable they were, and hes the exact opposite lol. Which is fine, i love him to death anyway, but i honestly think if i found here sooner I would have just gone with a redfoot off the bat.
They are easier (in my opinion) and she is definitely interested when I come to see her. Especially if I have a peace offering of cantaloupe or dandelion lol. Ghido just hides away and does his thing. They say he may become more bold once he hits about 3 so i guess we'll just see.

Where do you get all of your plants? I can never find any plants that don't have loads of fertilizer ball things inside of it!
They are all cuttings I've taken from bigger plants, I have a huge pothos that I can just snip bits off and root in some water, I pinched the spider plant babies from a relative and the aloe Vera came from someone I work with lol so I was very lucky! Some reptile shops sell edible plants that's where I got the Boston fern from but I repotted it in homemade compost and coco coir and waited a couple of monrhs just to be sure ?
