Sorry I'm late to the party. Thanks for the kind words @Tom . So I never used basking lamps with young radiata because 25 years ago when I met @zovick and toured his facility, he didn't. I have said many times before that as soon as I got home from my trip to Bill's house, I copied everything he did and never made any significant changes until I adopted the closed chamber method after Tom's research - also many years ago. Over the years I raised many babies (all) without a basking lamp and never had a single issue. Smooth heavy babies. And as I note in my care sheet, I also adopted Bill's technique of turning a basking lamp on for adults for an hour in the morning and an hour in the afternoon.
