The noises you are describing when your tortoise breathes ARE signs of a respiratory problem. It should be addressed by a vet ASAP. If you can't get an appointment till next week, make sure to keep the tortoise warm (90-95 in daytime and 70-75 at night until the appointment. Also you should soak the tortoise daily for 15-20 minutes in lukewarm water. Make sure the water is not deeper than the point where the bottom shell protrudes out from under the neck so the tortoise can keep his head out of the water without much effort.Hi my tortoise is called Sheldon, he is such a healthy boi but today I noticed him making these noises? I'll attach a video if I can . I'm booking him into the vet but I need to know if it can wait until next Thursday because if all appointments are booked tommorow the tortoise specialist wont be back until next week! I think it's a respiratory thing but I've a tendency to freak when it comes to my babies. His humidity today was 85% at highest and 40 at lowest ( wasn't misted when it should've been) will he be okay if god forbid it's fully booked tommorow?
Look for the Russian (Horsefield's) Tortoise care sheet on this site and follow those instructions for correct humidity.
Good luck!
