I'd really like to get the further inside story on this. Some predators are just never going to take 'no' for an answer.

I co-housed some basilisks (smallish green lizards) with some 12 foot anacondas at the Philly zoo. It worked fine until the lizard walk between the snake and a wall, the snake twitched and smashed the lizard into the wall killing it. Snakes are difficult to co-house with anything. But then so are some turtles.

Chelonians and snakes don't mix well due to pathogens, but hopefully they were screened first.

It is very odd that the boa would have gone for the tortoise. Snakes are not smart, just big piles of reaction. Well maybe King Cobras are smart.

Thank you for saving me from having to add that caveat. King cobras are scary smart. No snake should be that smart...

What did someone say the other day? "But I saw them mixing species at the zoo…"

Zoos are not the example for conscientious pet owners to follow!

And: DON'T MIX SPECIES!!!!!!!!!

I think if you're afraid of an animal you should not own it.

But they do it at zoos, just like Grand Prix drivers do all kinds of things on city streets. It's not the example to follow, but to watch/look at.
