Thanks! Yes, those are Koi that you see there. I also have bluegill, minnows, mosquito fish, and high-finned sharks in there.WOW!!!!! The thing I most notice is how CLEAR the water is!!!!
Those fish are gorgeous- are they koi?
Really, REALLY amazing!!!!!!!!Thanks! Yes, those are Koi that you see there. I also have bluegill, minnows, mosquito fish, and high-finned sharks in there.
Water clarity is extremely important to me. Without it, the glass windows are rendered an eyesore! You can't imagine the research and experimentation over the years to accomplish great water clarity with 60+ turtles and so many fish.
Just went out after seeing your comment to take a few more pictures to show off the water...

And right up against the glass, you are looking through 18 feet of water all the way to the back in the middle of this shot. The stacked rock hiding place is 6 feet away to give you perspective...

Thank you.Foo...!
I be totally jelly about now! Question: is that a snakehead I see in the center of the first image? Or maybe a Crenicichla species?
Incredible--public aquarium worthy--job.
Thank you.
No. I only keep US native turtles. All are kept outdoors in this pond year- round. Most of those crowding the window in the first picture are Suwannee cooters, maps and maybe a red ear. Maybe a painted in the picture but the painteds don't rush the window as fast!
