You may remember Wally, who I adopted about a month ago. He gets around fine but his back legs weren't very strong so he kind of scooted on his knees. He ha been kept in a cage his whole life with no UVB and only occasional trips to local park to run around. No calcium and only red leaf lettuce.
I put a big plant saucer in his enclosure, buried to even with soil and I have never seen him drink or sit in his water. I have been soaking him every day for 20-25 minutes. Changing the water after he poops because who wants to sit in poopy water?!?!
He has been really active in the last week, zooming around his home. TODAY I go out back and there he is in his water saucer, sitting and pooping!!! Yeah! So I put his greens on his flat rock and watch him stand and walk out!!!!
Such a proud parent moment!

You see how his head is down in this pic? It's from when I got him. Now, his head is up! When I leave his area, I say "Bye, Wally" his head goes up and turns towards me. Could be just getting used to me, or could be "i'm stronger!!" dunno

So glad to hear he's getting better. Nice job!

Tom, you are my hero! Tortoise Forum and especially you have made such an impact on my education and approach to how I tend to Wally's issues! Thanks to you and everyone who has responded to my neurotic issues regarding care of this wonderful but neglected animal! I couldn't have done it without you all! Thanks!
