What Is This

So today while looking at Turtleloo's tank, I noticed there was a clear slime on his half log. This grows every where when i leave it there. It has clogged the impeler on my filter 2 times before. It gets annoying because it smells terrible and caused me to leve a bare tank with only the filter, basking rock and his half log. Heres a pic of it. Please help me determine what it is and how to get rid of it.

Ditto. I think if you take out the half log and get something made for being in water, it might help. Those half logs I don't believe is really suppose to be in water, they are for land animals.

Well i don't know, that slime has been growing in the tank before i got the half log. And I think it could be used in water because it has holes drilled in it and those usually let the log absorb water.
