Up in canada your going to need a greenhouse for the sub adults to adults. They grow relatively slow in comparison to the redfoots. Down here in texas I have success with mine outside during the summer. HOWEVER I have a big bois D' ark tree in the middle of their pen and lots of corner hides and constant misting system even at night for them. They have a dry spot in the pen. Beginning in late summer all the way through to beginning of summer they go in a greenhouse.

Heres the outdoor pen that some are kept in the middle triangle. Sorry these pictures kinda suck But I will get some close ups.

Being that I have Yellowfoots at every point in my Tortoise career, here are some thoughts........

In regards to value - Any Yellowfoot under 20" is worth all of $125, if you can get it..........Between 20"-25" around $1000, and over 25" around 5 grand.....( Yes, those are standing offers from some of the most prominent Tortoise keepers in the world )........Big Yellowfoots are hard to get, seeing they only come out of Peru and Brazil........Potentially in southern Guyana, but no one collects there because you are guaranteed to get Malaria or other Jungle funk......

I keep them just like a Redfoot - Same care, enclosure, food, etc.......

Some Yellowfoots are destined to stay small.......I have seen many worn animals in the 10-14" range. Feeding them all the miracle grow in the world will not help them to get any bigger. This includes ALL their range........Some of those "Basin" Yellowfoots that come out of Peru each year are from average sized animals ( They just dont tell you that ).......

Ah, the magical "Basin" Yellowfoot.......They do exist - One came in around 4-5 weeks ago that was close to 30".......However, 95% of Yellowfoots advertised as "Basins" here in the US are not.......They are different in shape, size, but not really scalation. Yellowfoots seem to be really variable when it comes to scalation, even within the same population, so I wouldn't try to hard to go looking for that........

Just some thoughts.......
