Yellow foots are totally underrated. They're a very cool species of tortoises with peculiar habits, and very pretty when up close.

These big mamba jambas come from Peru. We have a few Guyana specimens. Both are pretty. But man the Peruvians are just exquisite. They love carrots, yams, and roots, hard things to eat.

They are fantastic. Quite a different personality than reds though. They can get rather aggressive when breeding with biting. But a very cool species. I'd suggest getting one if you venture into another tort.

yeah whenever i step to another species i'll go with a yellowfoot i'm working on either a very dark redfoot or a het hypo redfoot first lol

the only thing that honestly stopped me was that when i was reading about them before finding the forum i read that theyre humidity needs are greater then that of a redfoot is that true?

I love my yellowfoots! They have so much personality. I often read that they are shy - mine are anything but!

I would love to get my hands on some yellows . They are hard to find here as yearlings.

You mean a black one like this guy? I hatch them out all the time from my Venezuelan locale adults.

I keep both Yellowfoots and Cherryheads. I find them to be similar in personality. I have read that the Yellows don't like as much light, but my Cherries hide more than the Yellows. They also come out more in the cooler weather. Mine pretty much do the opposite of what they're supposed to. Go and figure?

I love yellows but no room atm. They are underrated though. They love in the shadow of the red foot. I enjoy pictures tho. Always great to see these guys. They get big too!

Thank you for sharing your pictures. The yellowfoot is the ONLY tortoise missing in my footed clan. I tell my husband frequently that all I need is my yellowfoots :) I have NEVER SEEN one in person :( I have stated numerous times on the forum that I'm not completed with my footed species until I have my yellowfoots :) To be honest, I'm surprised that they are so rare!? I will have yellowfoots one day. They are beautiful tortoises!!! I just have to accommodate my whole situation with my tortoises before anymore in the future! I know yellows get bigger than reds!

Yellows are more reclusive a bit, g
i mean just like that little guy lol is that "normal red" or a cherry?
normal. They're from Venezuelan so they are northern clad Redfoots.

When I first started looking for South American torts, I wanted a yellow. I wasn't finding one to my liking and some juvenile reds came available. I got the Reds but I still want a yellow. If I get this one in the spring, I may even reduce my red heard. We'll see.

That was my experience with the older one I had many years ago. Bonner was very outgoing and loved humans (or atleast tolerated them). I used him for all the talks I use to do.
