Thought it might be fun to hear, right now in your lives, what turtle/tortoise you desire most but do not have. Share what holds you back from having this animal if you like.

There are plenty of tortoises out there that aren't available now or have never been available that I would love to have.
So are we talking tortoises that are at least available once in a while.
If we are, right now it would be Bowsprits, Chersina angulata. Price and availability are the things holding me back.
Something more common would be a female Marginated tortoise. They are a bit expensive, but always seem to be attached to a male, which makes them that much more expensive. I'm sure I'll find one sooner or later. :D

I'm really happy with my 2.0 Leopard torts, but if I won the lottery or something so I could not only afford the best care and greatest setups but be able to stay home with them most of the time, then I'd want to add a couple of Stars, an Aldabra and a Sulcata....oh, and a really great human Pooper Scooper:D

I would love to have an Aldabra or Galapogos tort but location, space, and housing prevent this but I can still dream.

My most heartfelt, deepest tortoise desire is for my two Manouria species to breed (within their specie), make good nests and lay fertile eggs that actually hatch. I've been trying for over 10 years, and thought this was going to be my year, but out of 70 some eggs, I only have 1 very weak baby. All the rest of the eggs were clear.

My deepest tortoise desire would have to be to finally open a large scale turtle and tortoises sanctuary. With huge pens and ponds. With an educational and captive breeding (rare and heavily imported species) program

So its not really acquiring a certain species but rather being able to help in need turtles and torts have a safe permanent home.

My fav. turtle that I would like to work with and breed is Chinese box turtles. I am holding off trying to do that because all my turtle and tortoise money is going directly into starting the sanctuary.

No, they just need a more humid enviorment and low light. www.redfoots.com has very good husbandry guidelines.

My deepest desire is to once again have a Desert Tortoise. I was blessed with having a very elderly male for a couple of years and he made quite an impression on me. Only thing holding me back is that I don't live in one of the usual areas for them, so I have to wait for one to become available outside of those states.
