Hi guys! So I owned a Russian tortoise for many years, and I allowed my friend to watch him while I was at the beach and she tragically lost him (and her pets) in a house fire so I said I would never try again. Until recently. My mom had a friend who was giving this female away, who was being neglected. so I went to get her and turns out she had a mate. (So they said) I put them in my huge tortoise table (5x4) and all is well! I never see aggression, however the male has wounds on his legs that just keep getting worse, he had them when I got him so I took him to my exotics vet who said it was abrasion wounds. His shell doesn’t feel sharp anywhere, and they are too small to be bites (I think) so what the heck is happening?? I’ve had him a week, he’s getting a soak every 4-5 days rn because the vet says he looks a little dehydrated, and I’m putting neosporin on his wounds, they are up in the arm pit area on each leg. I’m about to just build another tortoise table to put him on and see if keeping him away from her might help them heal! I’m also planning on taking him back to the vet for further inspection :/ I just feel like they should’ve started healing, not more pop up.

What would you do?

Hi! Welcome to the forum, tortoise’s should never be housed together, it can lead to aggression. Someone will be here answer your thread soon.

Probably what caused it, I think they lied to me. I’m gonna just build a table for him

I would separate them first and foremost.

I would soak every other day for a while if dehydration is suspected.

8x4' is the minimum size table I recommend for an adult Russian.

Any possibility of rodents?

I don’t own rodents, but I have no idea what this husbandry was like before me
