What part of the US are you in Chef? Do you have a lot of snow?

Stay warm and turn the heating up.

Natrah
I am located in New Jersey.
We have 4 seasons here
But the storms here lately are getting really weird….

Good evening everyone!

I caught an earlier bus home this evening which was good but it took me twice as long to walk on the pavements. The pavement outside my pupils house looked like a skating rink. Angie that pillow sounds like an ideal present and I might have a look at one myself. @Chefdenoel10 I hope you're okay do you have snow? Edward's Servant you must find all this rather amusing because you would be used to a lot of snow.

Sue I hope you're brother-in-law's feeling a bit better. I think that this weather's created a lot of illnesses. My sinuses are always an issue, my friend has a chest infection but unlike your brother-in-law she's not in hospital. She's been prescribed antibiotics and she has an ECG appointment, her fiance has a stomach bug, another friend had a headache and my neighbours had COVID followed by flu.

Goodnight everyone and look after yourselves

Hello Natrah - if you look for the pillow in Lidl, it comes in a really large box, for some reason, so don't let that put you off.
Richard went out to get some peanuts for the birds, and looked in a new little second-hand shop beside the peanut shop - there was a 12 string guitar, which is something he has always wanted - he went in, tried it, and bought it at once, before anyone else saw it ! He is really happy about it !

Good evening everyone!

Angie I was wondering whether you could please post a picture of Richard's guitar because I'm mystified about it having twelve strings. Does it sound okay?

It was very icy and foggy this morning but it turned into a sparkling winter's day so I took the photos below from the top of the cliff because I thought it was beautiful. I noticed the Magpie family huddling in the tree behind the flat alongwith a couple of Wood Pigeons but later there was a Blue Tit at the top of the tree singing his heart out.

Edward's Servant do you have a long journey tomorrow? I hope the weather's okay for it. @Chefdenoel how are things where you are? @Cathie G hasn't been feeling well but I hope her cough is better now.

Goodnight everyone

I haven't heard the guitar properly, as Richard took it up to his music room above the garage to play with, but he says it sounds really good. The strings are each doubled up - if you look on line you can see pictures of the same sort of guitars - the sound is supposedly enhanced by the double strings.
It is pretty cold here, but no snow or ice, and quite a bit of sun, so we are lucky !
Love to all from Angie xxxxxxxxxx

If you want to hear what a 12 string guitar 🎸 sounds like listen to :

Hotel California - The Eagles
Or
Free Fallon’ - Tom Petty
to name just a few….
The sound is FANTASTIC and I can’t wait to hear what Richard is playing!!!!!!!
Good for you Richard!!!
We should all buy ourselves a wee present for our selves once in awhile.
I wish him much luck and success!!!!
Tell him to learn
“Norwegian Wood” by the Beatles.
That one would sound amazing!!! 🤩
Don’t know why THAT ONE came to my mind???….

Actually I came here on Saturday, even though my lectures only started today. The weather has been nice, yesterday it was especially bright. This week it will be a bit more cloudy and warmer. Tomorrow we are expecting a high of 3C and a low of -4C with some chance of snow. The weather will be more or less the same the rest of the week.

Forgot to say, we might come close to hitting a heat record on Thursday with a high of 5 C!

Dear Chef - Richard says that the words Norwegian Wood were just used for the rhyme and have no significance - and also, that the instrument being played there is not a 12 string guitar, but a guitar/sitar hybrid !
He says one thing he would like to learn to play is "Eight Miles High". He is very talented - when I first met him he was earning a living playing and singing in various pubs and wine bars around London, after having done a similar thing in various other parts of Europe. Then he got attacked one night by a gang of youths with table legs and sticks - he had a bad head injury - he was conscious enough to get the hospital to ring me at work - the people at the school knew him, because he had come to the school to sing and play guitar to the children, at my request, and they liked him a lot. So I rushed to the hospital, and spent quite a bit of time there for the next few days - and said he could come to stay in my flat when he left hospital - it had a tv, phone (to phone his parents in Canada) and central heating -and I knew some basic nursing skills. So he did - and that's many many years ago. But he hasn't played in public since - only in schools where I've been teaching. It's great to see him really enthusiastic about the guitar !

Hello Natrah - we went to Barnstaple to get some new radicchio, and Zola was fine in tne car, but this afternoon he has been in a very strange mood - quite aggressive at times - he wouldn't even settle to be stroked , for the first time ever !! With any luck, he will be his usual self tomorrow - I certainly hope so.

Better news about Zola today -he seemed a bit subdued during the day (perhaps tired after yesterday) - but has had a lovely long peaceful stroke by the fire with me again.I am very relieved, as it is so worrying when he seems distressed. I did notice yesterday that he was whistling quite loudly a bit as he breathed, but I couldn't see anything wrong with his nose - anyway, he's not doing it now !
We have had some really thick fog today, but it was sunny by the coast when we got there.
Love from Angie and Zola xxxxxxx

Good morning Zola,

I'm sorry I haven't been able to write but I will write again later. You make sure you're okay because I know how your dear mum and dad worry about you.

Keep warm

Good evening everyone!

I've been quiet recently because I've had three new pupils but I have been looking on this forum and thinking of Zola. I hope you're feeling better now Zola and haven't been in a strange mood. I did wonder whether it could be air being expelled as Jacky used to do this when retreating into her shell but she didn't really whistle. I remember eighteen months ago when I thought that Jacky's streaming and remembering Daisy's symptoms I did panic and I made an appointment at the vets. Jacky was admitted to the vets because her weight had plummeted due to not hibernating properly and there was no issue with her nose. The vet and I agreed that she could have inhaled something which she managed to dislodge. She used to do this from time to time but she was always okay.

I'm glad you enjoyed you all enjoyed going to Barnstaple Angie and Zola and I hope Zola is enjoying his radicchio. Edward's Servant is it very warm today and how long did it take to drive back to Uni? My nephew and his parents are enjoying some time in Cardiff. Sue how are you and how is Sherman doing? Cathie is it still very cold in Ohio. I have been giving lots of thankyou notes to my pupils for the Xmas presents and I am still getting through chocs and hampers.

Goodnight everyone

Dear Natrah - I was very glad to know you are all right, as I've been a bit worried, since you have been rather quiet! Zola seems fine now - no more loud breathing, and back to his usual self generally. He enjoyed a long stroke by the fire today - he is very polite, and usually presses his head against my face in a meaningful way when he has had enough, as if to thank me !
When we get radicchio for him, we always phone the warehouse first, to check they have some - when we get there, it is all ready in a box for Zola, and the staff always choose especially good ones for him - they really like his visits!
Lols of love to you, Jacky and Angel Daisy, and to all our forum friends from Angie and Zola xxxxxxxxxx

Thankyou Angie,

I have to admit that I did have to let the landlords know about the noisy neighbours again this week but I think the landlords are trying to build a file to get them out but otherwise I'm okay. Apart from this I seem to get on with all the neighbours and I also want to say that with the exception of telling the neighbours to be quiet this week I am finding my new bed much more comfortable and I obviously should have done something about the old bed sooner.

Sue how are you and how is Sherman doing?
All ok thanks Natrah. Pete hasn’t seen Sherman, he has been shut in his shed as it’s been so cold.
We’ve been looking at beds today. Quite a lot more expensive than the last time we bought one (over 20 years ago!)
Brother in law still recovering from his chest infection. He doesn’t need hospital treatment anymore just steroids & nebuliser.
It’s good you’ve got some new pupils. You are very dedicated & they obviously appreciate you.

I have to admit I've told them off like they were silly little boys. They are in their mid-thirties and myself and the other tenants are in our fifties/sixties. The neighbours over the road who wants to see the back of them are in their forties.
