Dear Natrah- we have to go to Barnstaple hospital tomorrow, for a check-up on my eye.I hope they will give me a date for the other eye op too. Then we have to go to the radicchio warehouse, which is some way outside Barnstaple to get Zola's radicchio - he has just about run out. It closes at 1 pm, so we may have to rush! I shall be glad to get home again, as I am quite anxious about the eye check-up. It does seem pretty good to me, but their test instruments may show something different.
How nice Jacky is to give you all these presents.! !
Love to all from Angie xxxxxxx and Zola xxxxxxxxxx

Good evening everyone!

Angie I hope the appointment goes well. How do you feel about your sight now? I love reading about Richard and Zola on their walks and I should imagine it's a lovely surprise to go out and see a little tortoise on a walk. I haven't seen Norah Batty for the last couple of nights but then we've had some rain and yesterday was quite cold.

Dickie, Edward, Sapphire, Zola, Tank , Sherman, Sally, and all our tortoise friends will be pleased to know that the first thing I did after Jacky her breakfast and clearing away my breakfast dishes was to clean. I then went out to do some shopping only to come back and do it again 🤣💩. Oh well it's good to know that I've got a healthy tortoise!

Goodnight everyone

Jacky, Angel Daisy and Natrah

Good luck tomorrow Angie!
All will go well don’t worry.
The radicchio man will wait for Zola too!
Think of it this way….
Jackie is gonna leave a mess for her doctor after she gets poked a bunch…
so if your doctor is a little rough with you then you should …. Leave a present for him! 😝

Love-
Sally
Squirt
Sylvia and of course wee Gary (the ghost snail)

Dear Angie,

I hope it all goes well today. Looks like lovely weather.

Natrah
Dear Natrah -everything went pretty well at the hospital. I had to have several tests, and at the end spoke to one of the doctors who had actually done part of the surgery herself. She said everything looks good - no problems at all, despite them having a bit of difficulty getting various bits of the old lens out during the operation itself. I asked about my next op, but she couldn't say - not too long, I hope. I will need to get new reading glasses from the optician for close - up stuff, but will have to wait until the second eye is done.
I do hope it will be over soon, but in fact it hasn't been too bad - and the staff in the eye department have been really really kind and nice (possibly meeting Zola helped ! )
Also we got Zola's radicchio before the warehouse closed for the day. ( i think they start work at 5 am ! )
What a generous girl Jacky is !

Dear Angie,
See!!! 👀👁️
I told you all would go well.
I am so happy for you and wish that you get more and more colorful sights each day.
I also hope that those doctors don’t wait too long to do the other one.?
They should understand that you need both eyes to be at 20/20 not 20/40.
You can look into new frames for your reading glasses while you wait.
Maybe a nice rose color or red?
Zola would love to chomp on the red ones though… so you do the picking.
Before I TRY to go to bed I just wanted you to know that I’m in the food industry (that’s my jam) EVERYTHING starts at 4-5am daily including weekends. If there is a store that opens up at noon there is a good chance that the staff was there since 5am. 🫪😴🫩🥱😵‍💫
I should know because I am up at 3:45am every day to be there for 4:30am.
It stinks but you eventually….. no…..
You never get used to it. 😂
It stinks but it pays the bills……for now.
I can’t wait to retire and start my new job…
Working with animals in some capacity.
Food will be sooooo far away from me that you’ll wonder why I don’t eat anything! 😂🤣

Dear Chef - I am so full of admiration for you, getting to work by 4.30am every day. Of course I don't know how long it will be before you are actually able to retire, but maybe you could start looking for possible future options - and find that the ideal job working with animals is already waiting for you, and comes with a good salary which is enough to allow you to throw all that food-related stuff away now ! You deserve a job where you can be happy! Life can be very unfair !
I am hoping to get my next eye op quite soon - I think they like to make sure the first one is perfectly ok first - which I think it is. I keep getting surprised by the changes in colour of familiar things -I bought a black bag recently, which I now find is bright blue, for example.!
Love from Angie xxxxxxxxxxx

Good evening everyone!

Below are two photos taken this morning: It has been very hot here and Jacky has been strolling around the garden whilst snacking on dandelions and strawberries.

Angie you must be so pleased after that appointment and hopefully it won't be too long before you hear about your next op. I hope you all got to Tavistock for that radicchio.

Just waiting for the bus home and hoping that it's not as hot as the earlier one.

Goodnight everyone

Natrah, Jacky and Angel Daisy

PS: @Chefdenoel10 you poor thing having to be up at 4.30 am but then I assume Marsha's rooster's wake her up at that time.IMG20260522101605.jpgIMG20260522101543.jpg

Hello Natrah - it has been very hot here too, and poor Richard had to mow the lawn before the weather changes and it gets all wet and soggy again. We seem to have all sorts of problems cropping up with the house at the moment, but luckily all minor ones - water heater, tile off roof, etc -but we have one wonderful thing, which is that the swallows are nesting in the carport, and Richard thinks the babies may have hatched. He will try to get up where he took the photos from last year, and maybe get a shot of them. I just hope they don't get over-heated.

It has been sunny here, but not all that hot - Zola had a long walk on the breakwater, but still was very energetic when he came home - however, he calmed down when he had his long cuddle and stroke with me. He decided to recline on my left side, for once - I was pleased, because he can feel my heartbeat there, as well as being rocked by my breathing, and I thought he would like that ! He seemed very peaceful, anyway.

Good evening everyone!

It's been a hot sunny day here and I have just returned from having sandwiches and cakes on the cliffs. There were lots of other people there but best of all I saw my first Painted Lady butterflies of the year. I tried to get some photos but they kept flying away and making it impossible.

Anyway today is my youngest brother's birthday and as Sue and Angie know we fell out years ago when he showed more interest in his inheritance (my home) than caring for dad with Alzheimer's. I didn't see why myself and Jacky shouldn't celebrate as well so we have been enjoying strawberries and I also went to Tomassi's for lunch. I had roast lamb followed by Strawberry Susanna (see attachments). I was hoping to go to Hadleigh Castle tomorrow but I'm uncertain because I don't fancy getting on the bus in this heat. The train to Leigh-On-Sea Station and the little cafe with the shaded seating area seems more inviting.

Cathie, @Chefdenoel10, Marsha and Edward how is it where you are? Angie I bet Zola had another long walk today. Have you seen your friendly robin? I met a very friendly one in Rayleigh on Friday who followed me down the road.

Goodnight everyone

Natrah, Jacky and Angel Daisy

PS: Sue I had a very vivid dream last night which was probably due to the heat but I dreamt that mum, dad and nana had come back and mum told me that she admired me as a carer for dad. She was a brilliant carer for nana and dad did his best to look after them both as well. I always felt that mum was looking over my shoulder when I cared for dad just as she said she was going to look over all our shoulders when she passed away.IMG20260524130115.jpgIMG20260524124341.jpg

She is probably doing just that! I’ve had some odd dreams in the past but nothing much recently.
We went out for lunch with Petes sister & husband today. I couldn’t face a roast dinner as it was so hot so I had scampi.
Dickie was awake early this morning & was walking round the garden when I got up. I have a lot of trouble sleeping in this weather so I have the windows open ag night but the crows woke me this morning about 5.30am. Must have been a dozen or more on the lawn & bird tables along with jackdaws, making a right racket! They clear all the food I put out the night before so the tables need refilling again several times. We also get rooks with their massive beaks.
I’m sure they must disturb the neighbours around us as well but once they’ve eaten they go en masse. It’s only this time of year that they come in such numbers. I always worry about the small birds when they’re around especially the young birds as the other day I did see a jackdaw grab a young starling & fly off with it.
George is sleeping on the landing at night as it’s cooler than the bed but he still jumps on the windowsill to look out.
Sherman has been very active walking round his garden. The hens share the garden too but they keep out of his way. He can put on a spurt when he wants to.

Dear Natrah,
I am so pleased with your dream.
Sometimes when we question ourselves we seem to get a friendly visit from our ghostly friends and family. I truly believe that your mother is telling you that she is pleased with all you’ve done and still today, all that you are doing and accomplishing. It’s great to have those dreams.
it fills us with joy when we wake up.
Be greatful that you were one of the lucky ones to receive such a beautiful gift from heaven.
If I have a dream about my dad it’s usually back in the hospital watching and waiting for the inevitable… wondering and crying about how to fix it.
I am very proud (as is he) that I was the one who solved his murder.
I had been saying to everyone what was
“ the REAL cause of death “ for years.
It’s a long story but I just for the first time had to say that out loud…
Anyway, please be filled with joy about your dream!!! It was WONDERFUL!!! 🥰🤩🤩

Dear Natrah - Zola was in a very strange mood this morning - very lively and rather aggressive when he sat on my lap in the car - he kept trying to bite me, which is very unusual. Ithink it was caused by the heat - it went up to 34 degrees here . Anyway, he had a long walk on the breakwater - he behaved strangely there too - Richard said he kept coming back to him, which is very unusual, and he thought it might be in order to get into his dad's shadow. He didn't want to stop, though. This afternoon Zola once again immediately arranged himself close to my heart again for his rest and stroke, which he enjoyed a lot - the room we were in was shady and fairly cool, which was a relief. We do try to give him a happy life (and, of course, it makes us happy too.)
I envy you, Natrah and Chef, being able to have happy dreams of your parents - I rarely dream of mine at all, and when I do, they are bad dreams, and I'm glad to wake up to my precious little family of Richard and Zola.
Lots of love to all from Angie and Zola xxxxxxxxxx

Good evening everyone!

It's been a very hot day here and Jacky is still outside after having climbed all over the drain and covered her face in a cobwebs😂🕸️.

I was going to go to Hadleigh Castle but I didn't fancy getting on a bus in this weather so I got the train to Leigh-On-Sea and walked to Two Tree Island. I was able to have lunch (see photos) under the weeping willow. I didn't see so many birds this time but there was a robins fighting near the entrance of the cafe because they both wanted to be friendly with the customers. I heard Goldfinches and I saw at least one Swallow but there were several Whitethroats all calling to each other. I also saw some butterflies including my first Small Heath of the season. Please also find photos of Jacky's thermostat. My friends in Manchester are saying that we are just as hot as them.

Goodnight everyone

Natrah, Jacky and Angel Daisy

PS: I hope it's not as hot as this when we get the bus to Canvey for Jacky's appointment on Friday.IMG20260525140008.jpgIMG20260525123720.jpgIMG20260525101240.jpgIMG20260525094133.jpgIMG20260525120818.jpg
