Dear Natrah - Zola was in a very strange mood this morning - very lively and rather aggressive when he sat on my lap in the car - he kept trying to bite me, which is very unusual. Ithink it was caused by the heat - it went up to 34 degrees here . Anyway, he had a long walk on the breakwater - he behaved strangely there too - Richard said he kept coming back to him, which is very unusual, and he thought it might be in order to get into his dad's shadow. He didn't want to stop, though. This afternoon Zola once again immediately arranged himself close to my heart again for his rest and stroke, which he enjoyed a lot - the room we were in was shady and fairly cool, which was a relief. We do try to give him a happy life (and, of course, it makes us happy too.)
I envy you, Natrah and Chef, being able to have happy dreams of your parents - I rarely dream of mine at all, and when I do, they are bad dreams, and I'm glad to wake up to my precious little family of Richard and Zola.
Lots of love to all from Angie and Zola xxxxxxxxxx
Dear Angie,

I think we posted at the same time. I think the heat is to blame because whilst some people on this forum think that tortoises like the heat they also like the shade. Jacky and Daisy use to look for shelter in the middle of the day. I also think that this is why Jacky buries herself under the carpet strips in the enclosure although I know that tortoises like to dig. Jacky and Daisy also the rockery so they would love to walk on the breakwater like Zola.

Goodnight all three of you

Natrah, Jacky and Angel Daisy

Dear Natrah,
I am so pleased with your dream.
Sometimes when we question ourselves we seem to get a friendly visit from our ghostly friends and family. I truly believe that your mother is telling you that she is pleased with all you’ve done and still today, all that you are doing and accomplishing. It’s great to have those dreams.
it fills us with joy when we wake up.
Be greatful that you were one of the lucky ones to receive such a beautiful gift from heaven.
If I have a dream about my dad it’s usually back in the hospital watching and waiting for the inevitable… wondering and crying about how to fix it.
I am very proud (as is he) that I was the one who solved his murder.
I had been saying to everyone what was
“ the REAL cause of death “ for years.
It’s a long story but I just for the first time had to say that out loud…
Anyway, please be filled with joy about your dream!!! It was WONDERFUL!!! 🥰🤩🤩
Dear @Chefdenoel10,

I've just read your post again and I hope you feel better for telling us about your dad.

Natrah

Good evening everyone!

It's been a very hot day here and Jacky is still outside after having climbed all over the drain and covered her face in a cobwebs😂🕸️.

I was going to go to Hadleigh Castle but I didn't fancy getting on a bus in this weather so I got the train to Leigh-On-Sea and walked to Two Tree Island. I was able to have lunch (see photos) under the weeping willow. I didn't see so many birds this time but there was a robins fighting near the entrance of the cafe because they both wanted to be friendly with the customers. I heard Goldfinches and I saw at least one Swallow but there were several Whitethroats all calling to each other. I also saw some butterflies including my first Small Heath of the season. Please also find photos of Jacky's thermostat. My friends in Manchester are saying that we are just as hot as them.

Goodnight everyone

Natrah, Jacky and Angel Daisy

PS: I hope it's not as hot as this when we get the bus to Canvey for Jacky's appointment on Friday.View attachment 400559View attachment 400560View attachment 400562View attachment 400563View attachment 400561
Dear Natrah,

Every time I see you sitting outside to eat, I am AMAZED at how there are no bugs around?
Here in the states when we even TRY to bring our food outside we are greeted with swords of Amy kind of bug you can think of!
Some even come with their own utensils!! 😂
One had a lobster bib on himself while I was putting my plate on the table in the yard!
Are there no bugs in England?
😧😧😧😧😧

I’ve heard in Australia everything from bug to plant want to kill you!?!?!?!?!!!
Is that true?? 🫪😱😳

Depending on the location here in Finland it is seagulls you have to worry about when eating outdoors, urban seagulls have a habit of stealing food even right from a hand.

Here ye….
Here ye….
I have an update on what’s going on with this horrible neighbor!

Eh—em……

Ok … so I went to work today and got a notice off of one of my cameras that FINALLY a constable 👮 showed up at the house and posted a note in a plastic baggie on THE DOOR this time.
It was to say once AGAIN… you have been evicted and you have thirty days to get your stuff and move.

BUUUUTTTTTT……
To my GREATEST PLEASURE it said nothing of the sort!

It said…. AND I QUOTE! :
“. You have THREE BUSINESS DAYS to vacate this property” 💃💃💃

If on the fourth day of you are still here the constable 👮 and the landlord will be coming over at 8:30am Monday morning to drill the locks off of the doors and give you 20 minutes to get some stuff and get out. “
“You’re other stuff will be put into storage for a week but if it is NOT claimed within that time the landlord has the right to THROW IT OUT.”
“You will be led out in cuffs if there is a warrant for anything else.”
Etc…etc…..
(She has TWO warrants for her car already!)

Guys?……..

I THINK THIS IS IT!!!!…???

I have been hearing this for two and a half years now so I am afraid to get excited for it…..
and then for it to go bust….
But something in my gut tells me…. That’s it. She is done. Even the police say so!…

I can’t help it….🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🫪🫪🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎄🎄🎄🎄🎄🎄🎄🎄🎄🎄🎄🎄🎄🎄🎄🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳

Wow! Chef 🙏🙏🙏🙏! I hopefully it actually happens and when it does just sit back and enjoy and do something to celebrate.

Good evening everyone!

I am currently enjoying some evening sun but I want to tell you about yesterday. I left some presents in the water tray and then I tried to get under it. Natrah came along and she was very unappreciative.

Hope you're not all too hot.

Goodnight

Dear Natrah and all -it has been extremely hot today, but we did get a few minutes of light rain in the middle of it ! Tomorrow we may have sun, thunderstorms and heavy rain - oh, and power cuts ! There is a weather warning for all these.Zola had a long walk on the breakwater, and met a fireman, who said he rescued a tortoise the other day ! Not from a fire - it had got stuck between some bricks, on its side, and its family just couldn't manage to get it out, so they called the fire brigade! That's all the details I have - anyway, it was ok !
Zola was in a strange mood when we settled for our stroke - it turned out I had read his mind wrong, and he wanted to go on my left side, not my right -silly Mum ! I find this weather very stressful, and it doesn't do my head any good ! I remember - many years ago - I wandered round Athens on my own for weeks, exploring, and found the heat very invigorating - it never bothered me at all - I was too happy and excited to be in Greece to notice it !
Deear Chef -I hope you can film the eviction of your neighbour - it would be a real treat to see it.! ! !
Love to all from Angie xxxxx and Zola xxxxxxx

Dear Angie,
I wish you guys were here to see it too!
I swear I have not exaggerated any of these stories one bit.
I will hopefully either BE HERE
(and take the day off of work..)
Or I will have got it on video thanks in part to my “Ring” cameras.
Not sure what I should do?
Any advice?
And to my dear sweet Zola,
If you don’t bite her in the bum… I WILL! 🤣😝

It is still pretty hot today, but it is creeping down slowly. I think we shall get some rain and/or thunderstorms soon -I shall be very glad. Zola went for his usual walk, and there were a lot of young children, who mostly had never seen a tortoise, and who found him fascinating. He does look incredibly cute as he plods along the rocky path in a very determined way.
When Zola came back, I was going to give him his stroking session, but ,for the first time ever, he wouldn't settle, and I had to put him back in his room again. I was rather sorry, as there is something indescribably lovely about having this little creature pressed up against me, with his shell against my cheek, and his little head lying on my shoulder.
Anyway, I shall get a cuddle when we watch tv in a while !
Love to all from Angie xxxxxxxxx and Zolaxxxxxxxxx

Good evening everyone!

It's been another hot day but it's now set to turn which is just as well as Jacky and I have to get the bus from here to the vets on Canvey Island tomorrow. It's quite a long journey and the heat may suit Jacky but it will be uncomfortable for me. Chef the hottest it's ever been in the UK was four years ago when temperatures reached 38 degrees Celsius however recently @Lyn W has experienced 34 degrees Celsius in Wales.

I hope that you'll be able to stroke Zola later Angie I shall be giving Jacky a rub on the way to the vets tomorrow. Don't you have another appointment soon and isn't it tomorrow? If so I hope it goes well.

Goodnight

I do hope all goes well on your visit to the vet with Jacky, Natrah. No,I don't think I have another appointment yet, though I will be hoping to hear fairly soon about my other eye op. I would like to get it over as soon as possible, and I might phone them to try to find out soon. I think everything went well, so no reason to wait. I was told not to get my eye wet at all with shampoo or anything - so I had a brilliant idea.I got some very cheap swimming goggles from Lidl, which are really good. I can wash my hair, and go into the shower, and literally not a drop of water gets near my eye - and I can use them after my next op too. I did test them first, before my op,and I was amazed at how good they were ,being very cheap!
I shall be thinking of Jacky tomorrow - love to her, and you, and everyone from Angie xxxxxxxxxand Zola xxxxxxxxxx

I wonder why he is getting fussy?
Probably the weather?
Mine gave me such a “side eye” today that I think she burned a hole in my cheek!
Hang in there Angie, Zola will come around once the coolness sets in.
My Sally HATES the heat.
I can’t understand why?
Anything above 75 degrees I get a stink eye from her!?!?! 🤣
