Good evening everyone!

We've had all sorts here rain, thunder and sunny spells and I think it's because of this that Jacky hasn't done much although I put her out for a little while at lunchtime. She slept quite a bit this morning because it was dark and she ate less than yesterday. It's as if she was thinking about hibernating just because of the change in the weather. Sue and Angie have you both had similar issues because the vet did say that tortoises can be affected by less light?

Chef I can only imagine how you feel because I remember coming back from holiday and finding the drug-dealing neighbours still here. I was absolutely horrified and terribly disappointed. I hope you're okay you will get rid of her.

Goodnight everyone

Hello Natrah - I don't think Zola is very affected by light levels, but he certainly is by heat -he can get quite frantically active if he is too hot. Today we have had a bit of rain, and I think there was quite a lot overnight, which at least has saved Richard from watering the flowers, and it seems a bit cooler, which helps my head-ache.
Dear Chef, I'm so sorry about your horrible neighbour - it just doesn't seem possible she can keep getting away with it.
Love to all from Angie xxxxxxxx and Zola xxxxxxxxx

Just been catching up on news as alerts have failed again & I have been a bit preoccupied with things here before suddenly realising I hadn’t seen anything for a while!
I too am gutted about Chefs neighbour issue not resolving. It may be the only way to resolve it is to move but it is a drastic thing to have to do & I really hope it doesn’t have to come to that 🙏🏻🤞
I remember visiting Stonehenge years ago Angie when you could walk amongst the stones. Can’t say i got any “vibes” but it was interesting.
Glad Jacky got on well at the vet. You are right about the heat, Dickie is the same. She hasn’t even got out of her bed so far today as it’s rainy but she is ok. She has been gaining weight from all the food she’s had recently which is great because last year it was a struggle.
Since sunday we have had what we think is a Slatey headed parakeet visiting our bird table in the afternoons. I reckon it has escaped from someone’s house or aviary, probably during the hot weather. I have put it on our local lost/found sites but nothing heard so far.
Never fear Sherman & Tank (assuming he is still there) will always be kept separately& as far from each other as possible so they have no inkling of the others existence!

Dear Natrah and everyone -it has been a sunny but very windy day, and quite cold, so Zola didn't get his walk today. However, he did get a lot of attention and a long stroking session from me, and he seemed quite happy.
Our current robin is becoming braver - he would just hang about shyly, hoping Richard would notice him - and then only dare to take one at a time. However, he is now asserting himself a bit more, and will even follow Richard into the car-port,where there are always some emergency worms waiting. He doesn't stand on Richard's hand yet, though.
We think our swallows in the car-port have gone - the other day, Richard saw a jackdaw coming out of there, and we fear he may have had the eggs or babies, as there is no sign of the swallows since then.
Tomorrow we both have to go to the dentist -never much fun, but she is a very good dentist as well as being a very nice person. I'm hoping to hear soon about my other eye op - it will be so nice to get it all finished.
Lots of love to all from Angie xxxxxxxx and Zola xxxxcc

Good evening everyone,

Just want to say good luck at the dentist tomorrow Angie and Richard. I just hope that the swallows have flown the best rather than being by the jackdaw. Been very blustery here but there were two bats behind the flat (Norah Batty and Compo). Jacky was frantic after her soak and it was hilarious 🤣 🤣

Goodnight everyone

Poor wee bird.
I hope it wasn’t someone’s pet and they just let it get out to find a better life?
And so it did!
I am sure of that …
Good luck in whatever the outcome is.
Thanks for your support on my neighbor.
I too am gutted like a flounder
I hope Dickie,Sherman and Tank get their day outside after all with beautiful weather and sunshine 🌞 🙏🥰

Good evening everyone!

Angie how was your dental appointment and Richard's. I hope everything is okay. I'm hoping, as I said last night, that the swallows have flown the nest and that they haven't fallen prey to the Jackdaw. Please let us know if you see any sign of the swallows. Sue have you had any enquiries about the parakeet?

Jacky didn't go out today because of the weather but she has been eating in the enclosure. However as for me I have certainly been out!! I put the washing on and hung it up behind the flat as it was all bright and sunny and then at 1 pm I had to race out to get it in again. Unfortunately I ended up soaked in a hailstorm and I had to change my clothes. The second storm was more spectacular with wind, rain, massive thunder and spectacular lightning. According to Facebook there is localised flooding and and a house was struck by lightning (thankfully no one was hurt).

How was it where you are and @The_Four_Toed_Edward, @Cathie G, @Lyn W? @Chefdenoel10 I hope you're feeling a bit better where your neighbour is concerned. I keep hoping to read that my former neighbours have been arrested.

Goodnight everyone

No nothing. I haven’t seen it now for the last 2 days but I’m still putting its food on the bird table just in case it’s coming at a different time. The Jackdaws have been around a lot more & later on in the day which might be putting it off as there wasn’t much bird activity when I did see it previously.
Unfortunately I think it’s very likely the jackdaw(s) has taken the young birds from the swallows nest. I wrote the other day on here that I saw a jackdaw take a young starling whilst it was just sitting waiting to be fed 😥
Your weather today was worse than ours! We had some thunder on & off & a few heavy downpours. I got soaked putting out the bird seed before going to work & didn't have time to dry my hair before having to leave!

Sometime ago I wrote about having to chase after a crow going after a blackbird with our resident magpies looking on (there's a family of twelve of them living here). The blackbird would have been doomed if I hadn't seen them all off. I feel sad for the swallows.

Dear Natrah - our dental appointments were not much fun,but my teeth are ok , more or less - however, Richard has to have a long appointment in a ferw weeks, as he needs a root canal filling re-done. It is going to involve several injections, and will be pretty unpleasant, but he will be relieved to get it over, as he has had quite a lot of pain from it recently.
We haven't seen any sign of the swallows, but at least our robin is getting more friendly all the time, which is cheering.
Love to all from Angie and Zola xxxxxxxxxx

Dear Natrah - those long-tailed t**** tend to hang about in groups quite a lot, so you might be seeing some more soon. They are lovely !
On our road to Bude, there is a lovely little thatched cottage, and I have been admiring the bush of large red flowers by the door there getting bigger every day - I was quite upset this morning when we drove past, as there wasn't a single flower left - they had all been blown off by the really fierce winds we had last night !!!
A lot of our flowers are not looking their best, but are not very damaged, I think. Zola didn't get a walk today, because it was pretty cold, as well as windy.
Love from Angie and Zola xxxxxxx

Good evening everyone!

Yes I was just leaving for the shop at 8.45 am and their twittering drew my attention. I noticed them flying towards the flat and calling to each other. I imagine that they were on their way to the cliffs and that they probably found their way here from the cliffs at Leigh where I used to live! I can just imagine my nana and mum's faces as they would have been delighted. I still remember nana's face when a Spotted-woodpecker turned up in her garden and sharpened his beak on a tree stump and also winter 1981/1982 when a Ruff turned up!

It's been a damp and windy day IMG20260606150736.jpghere but I did get to Tomassi's for lunch with friends where we finished with Stars and Stripes, Peppermint Perfection and Italian Blackmagic. I'm sorry that Richard needs to go back to the dentist but it would be nice to get the work done and I hope you hear about your eye soon Angie.

Goodnight everyone

Natrah, Jacky and Angel Daisy

PS: I've just posted the picture of my ice-cream because I noticed other people in the background of one of the other photos.

Dear Natrah - I don't think you have mentioned this concert before - I hope your rehearsals etc go well.Nice to see Jacky being her usual destructive self - her determination is pretty impressive !
My Nanma ( my mother's aunt, who brought her up) had a pet jackdaw for a long time, though before I was born, unfortunately. They are very intelligent, it seems.
Zola didn't go out today, as it was really cold, windy and wet -he wouldn't have minded, but Richard really didn't want to stand around in the rain guarding him !
Love to all from Angie xxxxxxxx
