Okay I'll do that as well. Jacky and Daisy have had sniffles when they used to live in the garden but now I feel I'm on a learning curve now that they sleep indoors at night.If I think Zola has a blockage at all, I tip several cups of his soak water over his head, then when I take him out to dry him, I give his nostril openings gentle but firm rubs with a baby's cotton wool bud to help loosen anything there - so far it has always worked.

I agree about not taking her to the vet at the moment . If you can just keep her really warm,as previously described, and provide delicious dandelion leaves on command, she should get over her cold in a few days, I think. It is good she is separate from Jacky, as you don't want to transfer any infection to her. Lots of extra hand washing would be good.I don't really want to take her back to the vet partly because I think that the journey won't do her any good. She certainly isn't any worse.

The cold symptoms are still there but Daisy has nibbled a tomato and anyone who has read my other threads will know that Daisy had two lumps and was seen by a vet. The lump on her neck is now a lot smaller and the vet found one on her leg which he said at her last appointment about five weeks ago was also shrinking. I know that it is continuing to because she was moving her back legs and exercising. She must be getting hot under the lamp and heat bar. When I picked her up to feel the lump on her neck she was shoving like mad even more so than yesterday so she must be getting some strength from somewhere!

Hello MaNaAk - It's lovely that Daisy is more lively - are you thinking of actually taking her to another vet, or speaking to one on the phone? Only you said the other day that you didn't think the journey would be good for her.Daisy doesn't seem to be sniffing quite so much today but I am toying with the idea of talking to another vet apart from the one that she was seeing tomorrow.

Zola can shove pretty hard -people are really surprised - however, he doesn't have spurs, just sharp claws !
The weather is very poor here today - wet and windy - and will be very windy tomorrow, when we have to go to Tavistock hospital for my other sort of head injections - however, the nurse will like to see him again, and he always quite enjoys the drive.

As you mentioned in a previous post, your vet might well not be taking her inclination to hibernate into account - if she isn't eating much, it could be just that. And tortoises can be slow to get over things - it's just their metabolism is different from ours. I would have thought the vet should be pretty pleased with her progress in general.Don't even think -or let him think - about putting her to sleep -you are giving her every chance to get better before you consider that ! You are being a wonderful mum to her, and you will know what's best for her.Just booked an appointment with the original vet for tomorrow at 6.30 pm.

Dear Natrah - I'm sorry Daisy has to stay at the vets, but I'm glad she is getting useful tests done. I was worried when I read the post on your other thread, but I feel less worried now I've read this !Good evening everyone,
I have left Daisy at the vet's where she's being well cared for. She will have swabs taken and blood tests to see if she needs antibiotics or anti-inflammatory medication. At least she's not being put down at the moment.
