My servant started last monday, but her actual courses are starting tomorrow. We are both settling in, though I am still going to sleep early.

Edward your servant must be having Freshers Week getting to know her roommates, getting acquainted with her college and course and settling in I bet your a celebrity. It's been a hot day here and Jacky's been recovering in the garden. She had a long soak after yesterday's present and she really tucked into her greens and lettuce after ignoring the weed that my new friend tried to give her
! Sue how has Dickie been today? I'll let you know when the Brent Geese arrive because at that point Jacky and Dickie really will be preparing for hibernation.
Zola I bet got your walk today! Did you see Besha and her radicchio? Did you get yours yesterday? When does your mum talk to the nurse? I am supposed to phone the surgery about a wellbeing checkup and according to my friend they check blood sugar so I shall have to watch my diet before any blood test. I have certainly been treating myself over my birthday and trying to tempt Jacky to eat with strawberries doesn't help!

PS: Jacky has turned right round to face the light so I gave her an extra because I think she is still missing Daisy. I have had to remind that she will always be by her side. Daisy did when she first slept in her enclosure without Jacky.
It is called orientation week here! I actually don't have any roommates, since roommates switch often and there is a rule in place that if one of your roommates wants the pet gone, you have to move. Either way, I found an apartment from the open market since I want to provide Edward the best. It is a bit further away from the campus, but it is worth it for the price.

Dear Natrah -the weather wasn't very good today so I didn't have my proper walk, though we went to look at the sea in the morning. I have radicchio every day when we get back from looking at the sea - as well as pea shoots, lambs lettuce, rocket, watercress etc. And dandelion leaves !Good evening everyone!

My dad managed to get some strong gloves yesterday, so he was clearing up the brambles he cut back previously - in the rain. My mum talks to the nurse on Wednesday.

She came out of her box just after 10am & was basking on the path. Pete managed to get her to eat a bit more today but again he had to hold the food to her mouth & after a while she started to eat some of it.
She spent some time under some plants then made her way back to her box. It was pretty warm so she was out longer today.

I hope you're all well. I found my old thread asking if Kale is okay for tortoises and it was resounding. Jacky was attacking her greens and lettuce today and I was very pleased to see this. Sue what you describe about Dickie's is normal for pre-hibernation although you may find that she goes back to eating before a proper fast for hibernation.
Jacky was very active this eating, strolling and climbing. She was about to wedge herself between the wall and the dustbin again before I brought her lunch out! Zola did you get your walk today I could be going to meet an old school friend from Malaysia in London next Saturday providing we can arrange a meeting.

Dear Natrah -I hope all is well. We have had a lousy couple of days - Richard has damaged his hamstring, and has trouble moving, so can't do the gardening work he had hoped - I have managed to twist a muscle in my side, and also can't move very well at all - but worst of all, the nurse says that the atogepant pills are not working on me, And the alternative treatments so far available are all unsuitable because of my age - I could risk having a heart attack. So it's back to the head injections again -starting pretty soon, I think !!! Still, I tried.
Zola is well, but he won't be going on the breakwater for a few days at least, as Richard doesn't think he (Zola's dad) could cope safely with the uneven walking etc. So I shall have to entertain a cross little tortoise this afternoon to make up for it !

Thanks -Richard seems fairly sure that he has just overstretched his hamstring, rather than any permanent damage, and I think I am getting slightly more able to move too - I am still pretty upset about the pills, though, as it did really seem that I might get rid of the headaches at last. Not only do the alternative treatments risk me getting a heart attack, but also the treatment involves giving oneself a hefty injection every month, which I would be very anxious about, so I'm just going to have to hope something else becomes available soon.Oh dear Angie I hope you both recover very soon
Zola is the best little tortoise in the world, though, and he is good at cheering us up!

Sorry the new pills did not work for you & you will have to go back to the head injections.
I know my sister has to inject herself monthly I think. I don’t know the name of her treatment but at the time she started on it it had only just been approved. She is so glad not to have those injections in her head any more. I think she said they did around 20 which were very painful as 2 people did them at the same time.
There’s probably new treatments on the horizon still undergoing trials so hopefully another one will be suitable in time.
Zola give your mum & dad extra cuddles at the moment, they need them x
