Good evening everyone!

We've both had a busy day and we've both been out in the sun. I have been basking, eating, strolling and climbing but I have also been half drowned as usual and this caused me to leave a present. Edward how are you these days? Are you still on medication? Natrah has noticed that your servant is called Lyn on another thread🤣.

Dickie how are you? Have you been out at all? Natrah and I have been thinking about you. Sherman how are you? Have you been doing any improvements in your enclosure?

Zola I bet you've been to see the sea today. Did you meet anyone and how is your mum? We are concerned about her in the heat and we hope that is keeping hydrated. Natrah had lunch in the Cliffs Pavilion and yesterday she had lunch with her friends in Rayleigh.

Goodnight everyone

Jacky, Angel Daisy and Natrah
Hello Natrah - I've had two walks on the breakwater, with a bit of visiting some of the stalls which were out for a craft market in between. It was pretty hot, and I have never seen so many people on the beach and all over the place - yesterday was very misty and chilly!
My mum is a bit fed up that her new pills don't seem to be helping at all, and may end up stopping them when she has talked to the nurse in a couple of weeks. It is very disappointing, but she had to try them.
I'm going out tomorrow afternoon with my dad to get the car's MOT done.It should be ok - and I can see my good friend Martin at the garage ! He has known me since I was little.
Love to you and all my forum friends from Zola xxxxxx

Yes Dickie came out herself & has eaten a reasonable amount today. It’s strange how she needs to be prompted but at least she made the effort to eat when fed & then by herself as well.
It was very hot this afternoon so she did find herself some shade under another ivy plant. This one isn’t so big so it’s easier to find her. Tomorrow is forecast to be hot again so hoping she will be active again.
Pete was saying that Sherman was out in his garden on Saturday walking about quite active. The other tortoises were also out in their enclosures but weren’t doing much as it was a bit cool. Seems to be a general thing due to the weather.

Goodnight all

Good evening everyone!

I have to go to bed soon I have had a wonderful day where Natrah found me doing a hand stand 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣. I had been charging all round the garden with fuel provided by lettuce, grass and greens. I had been climbing on the rockery when Natrah found me doing my hand stand and I am very proud!

Goodnight everyone

Hello Natrah and everyone - we had some very odd weather today - rain and quite cold this morning - then hot and sunny in the afternoon. I couldn't go for my walk, as my dad had to take the car in for its yearly MOT test - and there was a bit of a mixup about his appointment, so he had to wait for a couple of hours. Then, when it had the tests, it failed in several important things - it is 17 years old, and has gone for over two hundred thousand miles now, so it isn't surprising that bits are wearing out. Anyway, he is getting it fixed next week, which will be expensive, but not as expensive as getting a new (second-hand) car !
I wish I could have seen you doing a hand stand, Jacky.
I met a baby bluet*t today - it came into my conservatory, as one of the top windows was open. It looked very cute, climbing about on the fairy-light strings - and especially swinging on the tinsel that goes across
my ceiling ! It found the open window again, and flew off - it hadn't been at all scared.
Love to you, Natrah - and also to Jacky and Angel Daisy, and to all my forum friends from Zola xxxxxx
and from Angie xxxxx

Are you in training for the tortoise olympics? 😁 Which event would you choose? I think I would do the obstacle course as I like climbing over things & tipping up water dishes.
Well done Jacky I’m sure you’ll sleep well tonight

Dear Dickie,

Jacky is a climber whereas Daisy was a tunneller who used to tunnel under a fence 🤣!

Probably speed walking, you should've seen how I dashed under a bush when I saw a bird fly close by! Or a 3 meter dash if they ever have that at the olympics 😅

Edward :tort:
So you are an athlete Edward! Anyway Zola would be good at marathons with all his walking!

I think I would do extremely well at any climbing or speed walking, and probably at judo and weight lifting too. I am getting very strong with all my breakwater walks, and my mum can hardly hold me if I don't want her to do so!

Dickie update:
The vet has been trying to get in touch with a tortoise expert in order to arrange for Dickie to be assessed. This expert at a vets in Leicester unfortunately does not have any appointments available & is on annual leave next week. Our vets wanted to refer Dickie to another specialist vet in Cambridge which is a bigger practise & may have more availability. It is around 2hr journey by car so a 4 hr + round trip.
As Dickie has improved since she first went to the vet for the antibiotic injections we have decided not to put her through that long journey & instead the vet here wants to continue the injections just in case there is still some infection.
Although she is brighter & more active & has eaten a bit more during those very warm days, she isn’t quite herself. Most days she is not coming out of her box until late morning or early afternoon unless we get her out beforehand. She then returns mid afternoon. She will eat if we can get her started off with her favourite runner bean leaf but she doesn’t go to the food herself so we have to put it in front of her & move it to wherever she then moves to. She’s been having daily baths & has done wee’s in the water or shortly afterwards each day. The poo presents are not daily but are being left. There is no actual sign of illness just her behaviour is like pre-hibernation but it is way too early for that.
Anyway we'll see how she goes on. We have the option of travelling to the other specialist vet if necessary.

Goodnight all

It has been quite hot today - my dad took me to my breakwater, and I had a good walk, but there were lots of people around - often with dogs, so he had to keep a close watch on them. It was also hard just getting in and out of Bude because of all the traffic - my mum was a bit worried as we were so late getting back ! Still, I met a nice little Welsh baby who seemed happy to meet me.
Yesterday, I forgot to say that we went to see our friend Martin about the car - my dad described the main problem, which was to do with the steering, and Martin (who knows a great deal about cars) said he wondered if it might be a little nut under the steering stuff which had come a bit loose - he fetched his tools and spent ten minutes or so banging on this nut, to tighten it up in the proper position - and it worked perfectly. !!! We had thought we would have to spend so much money on a new steering system that we would be better off getting another car - but it is actually better than ever thanks to my uncle Martin. So my mum and dad feel a lot better.
I hope Dickie will soon be back to her usual self - my mum and I say goodnight to her every night, but maybe we should say a bit extra.

Dear Sue,

I'm pleased to hear that Dickie is making some although in tortoises it is generally slow. Anyhow when Daisy was our vets tried to get to a specialist in London and I tried to figure out how to get her there. In the end, when we found out that she actually had TB, she was treated locally. I would continue as you and as you say she seems to be responding which is very good. Meanwhile Jacky ate like a horse today and her weight looks okay to me.

Today was mum's sixteenth anniversary so I bought some roses for her and put them in a vase. I also went to see my friend who shares the same birthday as me and we enjoyed some birthday tea. Zola I'm pleased that your dad's cat is okay. Now you can go to Tavistock or for a drive locally.

Goodnight everyone

Thats nice. I always light a candle on such anniversaries.
What a coincidence that you & your friend share the same birthday. I looked back to double-check & see you must have had an early birthday tea 😀

I am so sad every time I hear that you are getting these injections?????
Do you HAVE to keep doing them?
Can we not ask upon the “Specialists” on this forum???
I guarantee you that they will find out what the problem is and how to fix it without any doctors.
Just really concerned…

❤️🐌slurp.

P.s.s.— please stop these injections…
for me! 🦄
