Good evening everyone!

I'm just letting you know that I have flattened some of the Michaelmas Daisies.

Jacky
😆 make sure you leave some standing so you have something to hide under when Natrah is looking for you.
I had a bit of a fright today when I noticed a large tortoise near my house. I hid under a plant & copied its pose peeping out from between the leaves to see if it was moving. Sue saw me & took me over to have a proper look & I sniffed it realising then it wasn’t real. It really did worry me so she has moved it into the flower border where it doesn’t look so scary.
Phew!

Good evening everyone!

We had some rain today but it is still very hot. How is it in Finland Edward? The floor was repaired today and the washing machine arrives on Saturday so no extra trips to the launderette. Someone else has been busy flattening the Michaelmas Daisies so the butterflies may not be able to get this plant this year

Goodnight everyone

Fairly hot in our standards, up to 28 c. Edward has been enjoying his outdoor enclosure and some clover flowers as they are in season.

Dear Natrah -I'm sure Jacky will be a great help to you with the clearing up tomorrow !
It has been raining on and off a lot today, and not very hot, thankfully. I hurt my shoulder a couple of days ago, struggling to open a window, and it has been very painful and difficult to move my arm. Now the pain has moved round a bit to affect the back of my head and neck, just where I get a lot of the headache pain !
I' m finding it all very frustrating, but I'm hoping it will improve soon. Zola is very kind to me,letting me stroke him.
Love to you. Jacky and everyone

Hello Natrah - our new three-colour buddleia plant is already putting out small potential flower buds - thank you again for putting the idea in my head - we are really pleased with the plant, which we got by post. I will make sure you get a photo of the first butterfly !
My head and neck are really painful still today, but I can move my arm a bit better now.I hope all goes well tomorrow with the washing machine arriving. You will need an extra large ice-cream to help you recover afterwards !
Love to you all from Angie and Zola xxxxxxxx

Good evening everyone!

Angie I wonder if rubbing ginger on your arm would help. In Malaysia mum learnt that this could ease swelling. I'm pleased your Buddleia's doing and I would love to see the first butterfly. Of Michaelmas Daisies also attract butterflies but yesterday Jacky tried to flatten one of stems🤣 because they were in her way!

Anyway it's very hot here and I saw a field fire from the train to Rayleigh. Unfortunately someone said that an electricity pylon was also on fire.

Goodnight everyone

Good afternoon everyone!

We've had lots of rain and are under an amber alert. Anyway the washing machine arrived and the old one was taken by the scrap merchants in the morning. Jacky has chosen not to emerge today

Good evening everyone!

I leave for my holiday in Oxford on Saturday and when I return on the 3rd August the noisy neighbours should be gone. Meanwhile Jacky did eat a little bit today but not much because of the weather. Meanwhile a small white butterfly tried to come in and see me (see below) and behind the flat the Jersey Tiger Moths were flying in the rain!

Goodnight everyone

Enjoy your holiday in Oxford, I’m sure it will be very interesting. One good thing is if the noisy neighbours decide to have a last hurrah then you won’t hear it! I hope whoever moves in next will be more considerate.
Dickie was out in the rain earlier. She isn’t eating much either. Apparently Sherman was out in the rain as well yesterday. We had a few showers but nothing too heavy.
The garden looks a bit better & we are keeping an eye on a Silver Birch sapling in a neighbours garden at the back of us. It has looked a bit droopy & we kept hoping the neighbour would water it. It’s losing some leaves now but has perked up slightly. Being only a baby tree it probably hasnt established itself fully yet. I love trees & hate seeing them suffering, damaged or cut down.
George seems to have lost his purr! He still meows though & is eating although not as much as normal. It’s very strange. Hopefully it will return soon. 🙏🏻

Good evening everyone!

Sue I hope George is okay. Do you the weather has anything to do with it? We've had sunshine and showers today and yesterday and Jacky hasn't eaten much. I'm slowly getting things together for my holiday and I've written some advice for my friend regarding caring for Jacky. I enjoyed another Strawberry Suzanna today: Hope everyone else is okay.

Goodnight everyone

Dear Natrah - my neck and shoulder are not as painful today, but my head really hurts a lot. However, I hope to have my next injection session soon. I'm not sure if I mentioned that I have got some hearing aids now - not to wear all the time, probably, but to help hearing the tv better, etc. They take a lot of getting used to, and I am still practising getting them in!
Zola hasn't had a walk for a few days, because of the rain and wind, but he has been enjoying extra fuss from me to make up for it.
I loved living in Oxford, and I shall think of you there.
Lots of love to you, Jacky and Angel Daisy, and all our forum friends from Angie xxxxxxxxand Zola xxxxxxxxx

That looks delicious!
George has his purr back but is a little bubbly sounding. He regularily gets mild upper respiratory infections which is probably what he has. When a cat has cat flu (probably in his past before us) the virus stays in the system & re-emerges at times of stress or low resistance. I think he is always a bit stressed as he hates other cats & is “on guard” every day.
The change in weather, although welcome by me, is not suiting Dickie that much & like Jacky she isn’t eating much either. We have had a lot on lately so haven’t been at home as much so haven’t had much time to hand feed her. She doesn’t seem to eat much otherwise. Still weighs 7 lbs so not losing weight. From about Mid August she usually starts cutting down a bit with her food so it’s a bit soon to be doing it now.
Will Jacky be packing the mop & weighing scales for her holiday? 😆

Zola had a really good walk on the breakwater - there were a lot of youngish children around - mostly girls - who were very interested in him. Richard said it was a real pleasure to talk to them, as they asked much more interesting questions than the adults mostly do - and the parents seemed happy to let them all talk together without interfering. He is always pleased to spread the word about how amazing tortoises are, and how deserving of respect and admiration. I'm sure there are a lot of people who have been influenced by those few minutes meeting Zola !

I had a scare yesterday, as Edward had managed to lift the wall of his cold frame. Thankfully I found him pretty quickly in the neighbours drive way. I tried to fix up the cold frame to be more secure, but I will keep a close eye on him today.

Dear Edward,

I hope you're okay please don't scare your servant. I read somewhere about a tortoise starting a fire by knocking over a head lamp but my question is how? Jacky leaves at 9.30 am tomorrow but after her soak yesterday she was very active so how she'll be at my friend's I don't know 🤣🤣🤣! Maybe she'll need the mop and scales Sue🤣🤣!

Natrah
