It was a lovely day today, and we drove up onto the moor, to a place called Sharptor,where we watched an eclipse years ago - anyway, Richard took his camera and Zola off to take some photos - they returned with two new friends ! The horse is called Jago, but we don't know the lady's name. They live on Bodmin moor.
Zola has met several horses in his life, but I think Jago is the handsomest ever!

Good afternoon everyone!

We left for Jenny's at 9.45 am and I am currently enjoying her garden. I have been grazing on the grass all morning and looking at the vegetable patch (the pet playpen is here with me so that I don't go mad when Jenny's out!). Anyway Jenny showed Natrah the vegetable patch and muttered something about caterpillars munching all the leaves. She has put mesh over some of the vegetables to stop the butterflies but in the past Natrah has mentioned that mesh and trellises are wonderful climbing frames for caterpillars. Many years ago out former neighbour had a trellis behind our buddleia and Natrah came in laughing having found Yellow Underwing Moths laying eggs on it.

The mesh won't bother me as I can just bulldoze my way through and eat what I can. I hope you're all enjoying the lovely weather and Zola that's a lovely picture of the rider and her horse. You'll have lovely weather for a walk today. George I hope you're feeling better. Dickie, Sherman and Edward keep hydrated. Edward we can't believe is 30 degrees Celsius in Finland!

Here is Sharptor in the background - the area is very open and beautiful - we hadn't been here for years, and had forgotten quite how striking it is ! (The stripy scrunched up person by our car is me, of course )
Zola had another good walk today, and was really tired when he got back.

I should say that on the way home I saw a Red Kite Bird Of Prey near Slough. I better get to bed as I am exhausted tomorrow I do all the washing and collect Jacky after inspecting my friend's vegetable patch. The flat is very quiet without those neighbours and once I am happy that I will never see them again I will report them.

My friend from Cyprus kept wanting to go to the Randolph Hotel probably because of Inspector Morse (TV series) but we never got round to it and then we started talking about All Souls College and Magdalen College and how they are known as All Saints, Benison and Trevelyan Colleges in this series!

Thankyou everyone!

We both enjoyed good holidays but I think we both missed each other. I saw lots of masterclasses and concerts despite a couple of days of not eating did to the weather Jacky ate well and enjoyed a lot of digging. I have been doing a lot of washing and I noticed a damp patch on the wall so I have called the engineer as I believe it is to do with the installation. They are coming on Thursday and also I thought that the two noisy neighbours were moving out on Friday but unfortunately one of them is still here. I was dismayed to see this and I assume that he is having trouble finding another flat. However I will keep pushing the landlords.

Good evening everyone!

Just a quick update in that the landlords came round twice today and took photos of the neighbour's so I'm guessing that they are looking for evidence to show a court to get him out! I'm quite pleased about this.

The weather is supposed to be quite warm tomorrow so our little tortoises should be eating a bit more and Zola should be able to see the sea. Last week I was watching deer from Magdalen College running around in the fields of St Hilda's College!

Hello Natrah - we went to Barnstaple this afternoon so I could be assessed for cataract surgery. It all went well, and after a long series of tests, I was told I could have the first op in about 3 months, and then the other one no more than 6 weeks later - so it could all be over by Christmas -if all goes well ! The various people testing me were very nice - the main problem was getting back home again, as there was a huge amount of traffic. Zola was very good on my lap in the car, but we had to leave him in his travelling box while we were in the hospital, so he didn't get his proper share of attention. He has actually been there before - many years ago, when I had an emergency operation to put a stent in , and Richard smuggled him in under his coat to see me.( A lady doctor met him too,then, and she was really delighted ! )
