Dear Natrah -Zola actually managed to get a proper look at the sea today (recently it has mostly been little peeps out of his dad's coat) . The sky was blue, apart from very pretty clouds, and we saw lots of snowdrops and daffodils. We also have daffodils flowering in the hedge opposite our house, which is a very welcome sight every year. And a nuthatch has joined all our goldfinches on the bird feeders -unfortunately the starlings are still around ! I saw a bluet*t today checking out the nestbox outside our kitchen window, which is another cheering sight !
It would be nice to be less cold and wet, though !

Good afternoon everyone!

It's miserable here but anyway I'm glad your appointment went well Zola. I just wanted to say that Jacky is good at percussion as well. I remember Daisy was unable to hibernate in my last flat and Jacky was emerging from hibernation. One day I decided to put Jacky in Daisy's enclosure and all went well until she decided to start moving about. I had to hurry up with lunch because Jacky was causing mayhem and I had to get her outside and allow Daisy and the enclosure to recover!

Natrah
Dickie is the same causing mayhem! Jackie seems very sprightly for a tortoise of her age. Dickie is quite active more so this year than previous years at this time. She has had her second wee but is still not interested in her food. George is spending more time upstairs during the day.
Roll on spring & warmer weather. The garden is soggy & muddy so needs to improve a lot before Dickie can be outside which is where she wants to be.

Good evening everyone!

Despite a beautiful sunset it has been a cold, damp and miserable day although I did have lunch at the Cliffs Pavilion. I thought of Zola as I looked at the sea but it looked very rough and would you believe it an Amazon van was caught by the tide on the beach!

Anyway it would be nice to see birds that Nuthatch that visited Angie but I did what I think was a flock of Turnstones along the beach. Sue is Dickie settling now? I tested Jacky's lights in preparation for her coming out of hibernation.

Did anyone get any snow?

Goodnight everyone

Cold miserable & damp here. We’ve had some hefty periods of rain & there is localised flooding.
Dickie is very restless trashing her enclosure. She hasn’t eaten yet which is usual for Dickie as she doesn’t like being confined indoors & is stressed but I can’t let her go outside yet. She did have a wander a few days ago when it was mild but she got plastered in mud as our garden is a mess at the moment with hardly any grass.
Apparently the animal sanctuary have had another Sulcata for the last 2 years! He is hidden away in an area where the geese are so a long way from Sherman. Pete doesn’t ever go to that area so he wasn’t aware but due to a problem with the electric fire he had to go to the enclosure & saw him. He is smaller than Sherman but still big & his name is Tank! Sherman has met him & it wasn’t amicable which isn’t a surprise given that they’re both male 🙄 No females to fight over though!

We got some snow, but not much. Yesterday the low was -27, today only -11.

I appreciate no one knowing that this driver was on MOD property but I want to say we made many trips here to see the birds which you could do when the flag wasn't up. Anyway one day dad waved at one of the soldiers when we were leaving 😂😂😂😂😂!

Hello Natrah
How’s it going with Jackie?
Dickie continues to rearrange everything in her enclosure & tip up what she can lift. I know it’s a sign of frustration with her rather than playfulness like Jackie. She refuses to eat even a morsel indoors which is why, as soon as she is properly warmed up & had her soak, we put her outside very briefly & she has then started eating some grass & Flox leaves. She had a bit of cabbage as well whilst out there then as soon as she stops we bring her back in as it is way too cold to leave her outside for too long.
It’s all taking a long time & what with sorting out the birds as well & George bless him, who heads upstairs once he’s done eating, I’m not getting much else done in the mornings. Breakfast seems to be at lunchtime & lunch is anytime before 5pm!
It’s going to be a challenge to get to my job on time once Pete goes away.
Keeping my fingers crossed that the weather warms up soon.

Good afternoon Sue,

It's all going slowly here and I'm just keeping an eye on Jacky's temps. I'm still aiming for March to bring her out of the fridge but meanwhile I've bought a spare bulb for one of her lights because I know it will go at some point. It will probably go when Jacky is in the enclosure. I'm afraid I have to encourage her to eat inside as like Dickie it doesn't come naturally to her whereas with Daisy I had no trouble encouraging her to eat her lettuce.

When does Pete go away and what work are you doing? I've had a handful of pupils over half-term but I managed to get to the concert in London and the lunchtime concert at my local Civic Centre on Wednesday. Both concerts were very good and I enjoyed tea and cake in Hyde Park on Monday.

I'm afraid my sinuses are playing up and I think it is due to all the rain. I hope Angie's okay as she hasn't posted recently and I'm concerned about her headaches. I think @The_Four_Toed_Edward is okay as I have seen her on other threads.

I hope George won't keep you up all night when Pete goes away. Any news on Sherman and Tank?

I will have to shut George downstairs at night when Pete goes away. He is going on 15th March. I have a cleaning job once a week for 4 hrs so I’m actually out for about 5 hrs that day which is a problem with Dickie as I can’t leave her outside all that time. She won’t eat indoors & it’ll be a bit late in the afternoon to put her out when I get back. There’s also the outside birds I feed & water & clean up after plus a visiting hedgehog that’s emerged from hibernation a bit early.
Sherman has been out in his garden but not for long. He knows it’s too cold so goes back in his shed where it’s nice & warm. I’m unlikely to hear anything about Tank seeing as he has been there for 2 yrs & Pete has only just found out about him! He’s over in an area he never goes to so unless something needs fixing he won’t see him. Sherman remains the star attraction for visitors though.
I hope the weather improves for us all soon & Jackie is soon rearranging your bathroom 😂

Dear Natrah - thank you for your concern about my headaches - I am not really doing too well at the moment -I have my next injection on Sunday - I hope that will help, but although the pains seem to be often in different parts of my head, they don't seem to be getting much less ! Zola has been a dear little boy, letting me stroke him, and keeping me company, though - and Richard is always kind.
