Good evening everyone!

It's been better here today but on the way home from shopping I had to take shelter from a three minute hailstorm in a bus shelter! How is the weather where you are Angie, Sue, Edward and Chef? Angie I hope you're okay with your heating. Hopefully it should start to warm up. Edward and Chef ate Finland I hope you're both okay with heating? I got home and found Jacky in bed having devoured most of her food!

Goodnight everyone

The weather has been fairly ok today, but not good enough for the breakwater. However, we did go to look at the sea, and as Richard was taking Zola to the look-out, he met a lady who was overjoyed to see Zola. She said she hadn't seen a tortoise since she was 14, and now she was 80 ! It's lovely when things like that happen, and they actually do happen quite often ! !
Love to all from Angie xxxxxxxx and the wonderful Zola xxxxxxxxxx

How is the weather where you are
The sun was out this afternoon but there was a chilly wind. We change the clocks tonight I’d better tell George not to oversleep! It always takes me a few days to adjust.
Pete & his friends are loving NZ. It’s very beautiful. They all said they would live there. 😊

Good morning everyone!

When I tried to see what was under the new carpet strips the other day I did notice some newspaper. I tried to read it but it was full of humans doing stupid things and tortoise news.

Dear Jacky I don’t find the newspaper very interesting either which is why I bury it in the water bath! I’ll have to subscribe to Tortoise News, maybe I’ll see Zola in there

Sorry Dickie - my mum and dad try not to get me involved in any newspaper article - they are not at all keen on publicity, though they don't mind people taking photos of me. I think I have been mentioned once or twice on Facebook over the years, but nothing more.

Dear Zola I agree it’s best to keep a low profile like the artist Banksie that way you become more of an enigma. Your mum & dad protect you so well & only the lucky ones get to meet you x

My mum and Dad thought your comparison of me with Banksy was very appropriate - thank you. Over the years I have met hundreds of people - and have permitted quite a few to hold me ! If you could see the delight that gives them, you would be amazed - and I don't think I have ever weed on them ! My dad watches very closely over me, of course - but we like to think that we are doing a good thing - making people happy for a moment, and giving them a memory they will perhaps never forget - and also giving them a different and better understanding of tortoises.
I do keep a low profile otherwise - no articles in the paper, no-one knows where I live, and so on.
Love from Zola xxxxxxxxx

Good evening everyone!

I'm relaxing by coming on here as I'm making considerations about a pension. I'm not retiring yet but planning for the if I don't stop my head will spin. Anyway I missed my extra hour of sleep and I think Jacky did as well as she was woken up early for her soak. Unfortunately she made a massive mess in her bath and she ended with an extra soak. She then warmed up and devoured her breakfast and lunch. We currently have the magpie family roosting in the tree next to the flat whereas the house opposite had a very musical Great Tit!

Zola is famous on TT alongwith Dickie, Sherman, Edward, Sally, Sapphire.

Goodnight everyone

Good evening everyone!

I hope you've all had a good day. I've been feeling anxious because I've tried to look at the pension. The private pension isn't as much as I thought but I need to find out about my other pensions. It's better to find out now at five years before I can claim the state pension. I need to have a look at my other two pensions but I'm still booking my music holiday this year incase I can't go next year.

Goodnight everyone

The weather has been fairly poor today, but Zola managed a good walk on the breakwater - coming back fairly chilly, and needing to be warmed up under his mum's jumper for some time, and then having his fireside stroke, of course ! He is fine now.
I managed to phone the hospital about my cataract operation, and got a date -29th April ! That's for the right eye, and then the left one will be about 6 weeks later ! I am so relieved to be getting this sorted, and with enough warning to sort myself out beforehand -I think I shall have to stop wearing my contact lenses, and use some special eye drops - I'm supposed to get a phone call from the eye department to give me more information soon. Obviously, I'm not looking forward to the ops, but I am aware that my vision is getting poorer, and really looking forward to seeing the flowers in their best colours - and Zola's shell, of course !
I hope you will get your pensions sorted out ok, Natrah - I remember having some confusion with mine, but once it got sorted I have had no problems.

Dear Angie,

Thankyou I got quite anxious about it but it's better to find out now and plan rather than later. I need to about the Teacher's Pension and see what's in there before looking up the state pension. I had a letter from HMRC today actually telling me where I could look it up so I can plan that as well. Sue knows how anxious I can get as she probably remembers from my days as a carer on another forum.

One person who's seen me through all this is Jacky who has taken to having supper as soon as I get home! I also think of Daisy who was by her side for all those years.

You must be relieved to get the appointment Angie and I've made a note of the date.

Goodnight everyone

Our post is quite intermittent too. Until today we hadn’t had any for a week.
One time last year the postie called at the door with a bundle of post in an elastic band & apologised because no one had covered his round whilst he was on holiday. It’s not good is it. Must be lots of birthday cards arriving late.
It’s wise to check out your pensions so you have some idea on your future income. In order for me to get a full state pension I decided to pay the missing contributions. At one time DWP would inform you of a shortfall but that stopped (for me) & I only found out when I contacted them. I think there was a time limit on being able to make up the difference so if that’s still the case it’s best to check it out.
I’ve found with anxiety as I get older some things that used to worry me don’t any more but I have new worries instead. I reckon having been a carer it seems to predispose you to being anxious as it’s such a big responsibility. More so if you’re doing it alone.

Good evening everyone!

I phoned my work pension pension and I was pleasantly surprised. However I now feel a bit off colour and I think it's because I felt stressed and a bit nervous about phoning the company today. Anyway I had lunch at the Brew and Chew where I enjoyed Tuna Jacket Potato, Apple Juice, Coffee and Pistachio Cake.

Hope everyone's okay

Goodnight

Natrah, Jacky and Angel Daisy

PS: The advisor said that I could draw my pension when I'm 115 so I said that this would suit my 90 year old tortoise!IMG20260402130423.jpg

Hello Natrah - I'm so glad your are getting your pension sorted - I know how worrying money problems can be. Luckily, I have a teachers pension, an old age pension, and a fairly small amount of savings as well.Richard has a bit of money left to him by his father, but no state pension, as he spent most of his adult life before I met him travelling round Europe, playing his guitar and singing - also doing some acting work -but he was never settled anywhere. Fortunately, we seem to have enough to manage. As long as we can keep Zola in radicchio, we are ok !
Zola went for a good walk on the breakwater today - it was really sunny - and he met two families who had seen him last year, and were really hoping to meet him again. He was cross about coming home, but at least he had his fire stroke, which he enjoyed !
Love from me and Zola xxxxxxxxx
