Sapphire has been getting out for 3 days straight now. It's early in the year for around here but such perfect weather for a tortoise. I can't say no 😊. When I walk into his room in the morning he's chomping at the bit to get out. I know because as soon as he notices me he turns towards me ready . He's even liking his daily plunge in his water dish that he gets when he comes in 😉he even drinks after the initial shock 😲 I hope it stays nice but we're still in early spring. We'll see 🙈

Good evening everyone!

I read an article in today's Times that we should all follow the example set by the Finns so when I find it again I'll post it. Anyway Angie, Sue and Cathie we should all do whatever Edward is doing. Anyway my ear suction appointment went quite well although it seems that I might not have needed to have the right ear done. However I thought it would be good to get them done today as I may have had to go back again before going on holiday. The next thing to do is to book Jacky's checkup

Anyway Angie it looks like you were in some beautiful woods. Is it Ashclyst Forest or Buddleigh Salterton or somewhere else? I didn't feel it was warm enough for Jacky today but I'm pleased to see that Dickie, Sapphire and Zola were out.

Goodnight everyone

It got cold and rainy today so Sapphire had to stay inside. He sure ate good though anyway. He doesn't care anymore if someone is in his room watching. He just chomps away. I used to have to sneak to watch when he ate. He would stop immediately. As soon as he saw me. Now anyone is allowed to watch. I was thrilled when I finally got to hear him crunching on his salad.😊

Jacky and I tend to eat at the same time!

Hello Natrah - the bluebells were in Meldon wood -near Okehampton. It is quite small, and not famous - and the edge of it is bordered by a motorway cut out right beside it, but much lower down. The poor birds have to really shout, because of the constant traffic noise, but it does mean that it isn't particularly popular or well-known. Okehampton is a special town to us, as it is where Zola found us -we went there to get bird food one day, 25 years ago, on July 8th, to be exact, and the friendly pet shop owner was very excited as he had some baby tortoises (they had been banned from sale for years). He brought them through to show us - there was one with a split shell and a bulging damaged eye - this tortoise looked at us, and we looked at him,and that was it -love at first sight !
As you know, Zola has still a split shell - we think he may have been trodden on , but his eye got better quite quickly, and he has never been ill since - and we are so very glad he found us !

Dear Angie,

What a lovely story! I think we holidayed near Okehampton years ago and it's very pretty. Devon is very pretty county and I also remember some lovely places in Northamptonshire Sue. I remember staying in Yardley Gobion but I think that's in Buckinghamshire. I had lunch on the cliffs as usual but I noticed a Pied Wagtail a long way from the sea and I could hear Goldfinches. I also saw Orange Tip butterflies. Cathie did Sapphire get out today? Jacky had her first strawberries today. I hope @Chefdenoel10 is okay. I expect Edward is preparing for exams. My nephew will be doing his A levels soon and mum and dad would have been so proud.

Goodnight everyone

Friend sent some pics of Everdon Stubbs today. It’s not far from where I live. I haven’t been to Yardley Gobian but it’s only about 12 miles away.
Spring is my absolute favourite time of year with so much blossom about it’s really beautiful even just driving down the dual carriageway into town the trees & hedgerows look lovely & lots of bright yellow dandelions dotted about in the grass verges. All the colours are so pretty.

Soon I hope I shall be able to appreciate the colours of the flowers even more, I hope - I am having a cataract operation on Wednesday - I am sort of looking forward to it but also rather apprehensive. It's at Barnstaple hospital, and when I went for my assessment some time ago, the staff seemed really nice and kind -and I've been given lots of information about what will happen. There is a lot of building work round the hospital, and also lots of road works near it, so we shall leave early, although my appointment isn't until 12.30. Zola will have to come too, as he isn't safe to leave in his conservatory for quite a few hours on his own - he might fall on his back or get stuck or tangled with something. So Richard will leave me at the hospital and go away with Zola for a few hours, until he gets a message to come back. That's the plan, anyway !
If all goes well, I hope I shall be able to have the other eye done fairly soon, too.
Love to all from Angie xxxxxxxxxx

Good evening everyone!

Beautiful photos from Sue and Angie. I hope to go out at the weekend and take some photos as well. I love the flowers appearing and the birds nesting.

Angie I've got that date written in the diary and I shall be thinking of you. My friend from orchestra had a cataract removed last year and it was blurry at first but then it gradually cleared. She is fully recovered and her sight is much better.

I hope you've got something nice planned afterwards and that you can relax. It's nice that Zola's going with you and it's good that you're allowing plenty of time to get there.

Goodnight everyone

Natrah, Jacky and Angel Daisy

PS: Remember it's completely normal to start by cleaning Jacky's enclosure and it is now routine..... Is this what you two do Sue and Cathie? How about you Edward?

Good luck Angie, everyone I know who has had this procedure have benefited from having it done & are really pleased with the results. I’m sure you’ll be fine x

Dickie usually dictates who gets attention first in the morning because if she does her toilets as she emerges from her bed then the paper is lifted straight away to prevent her walking back through it! The birds want their aviary friends video putting on & there is plenty of squawking until I do. George is waiting for his breakfast. He’s not always very patient! If he has done something fragrant in his litter tray then that has to take priority over everything. Cat owners will understand why 😆

Good afternoon everyone!

It's working well with a new charger. I hope you're feeling a bit better Angie.

Natrah
Thank you Natrah- Ihad a pretty unpleasant and painful day yesterday, and a very painful and sleepless night last night, but I'm feeling a lot better now, and quite excited to discover that my vision is already improving in some ways ! Things seem brighter, and I can see the colour blue much more brightly especially ! I have various drops to put in , and go back in 3 weeks for a checkup . I hope I can sleep tonight, but anyway I am feeling quite hopeful . Zola got to meet some of the nurses in the eye building, and of course they loved him !
