It's really impossible to see from this photo, but the dense white area under this shrimp's abdomen is bunches of EGGS attached to her swimmerettes! She's moving them rapidly to keep them aerated.
BUT we all know this can only mean ONE thing... there has been GHOST SHRIMP HANKY PANKY !!!!! ;)

Also looks like Jacques is trying to sneak up on it. Lol

Well, friends, I'm not sure what to think right now.
For the past 7- 10 days Jacques has quit eating. Not even SALMON tempts her.
She has stopped coming up to the front of her tank watching and interacting with us, and won't use her basking platform. She just hangs out in the dark area in the back of her tank, float-basking near her heater.
This is the behavior she had when she was developing the pneumonia after her near-drowning. :( She is still floating very level, though.
We have an appointment with her specialist vet next Tuesday, but they'll call us if anyone cancels so I can get her in sooner.

My fear is we all THOUGHT the pneumonia was totally cured before, but maybe it was only 99% cured. If that teeny little 1% grew and has come back again then the pneumonia may have recurred.
Although her treatment before was less costly than I had feared ($600 rather than over $1000, which is what it would have been for one of our cats!!! ) we are just NOT in a position to keep spending that kind of money.

Hubby and I have had several talks about this. He is entirely supportive, wants me to be happy and he loves Jacques too, BUT the expense may be too much for us to maintain. I know that, because the expense before was quite a hit for us.
When she goes in next Tuesday (April 10) I'm sure he'll do a blood count. Depending on what it shows and what he thinks is going on, she may or may not come back home with me.
It was hard to write that sentence just now.
i'm not sure what else to say.
I may not be on here much between now and then. I hate to leave you hanging because I know a lot of you really enjoy her too. It's just really, really hard to think about it.
I will post here FOR SURE the results of next Tuesday's appointment.

I love you all. I delight in your enjoyment of Jacques' antics!!!
And I am always so very grateful for the advice and support you so willingly share.
And if we're lucky, my fears are unfounded and we will have a happy solution!
Hugs to all.

You are most welcome... I was thinking, maybe you can start a little crowdfunding on the forum for Jacques. Everybody loves her right. I don't know if it is doable. But just thinking...

You are so sweet to suggest that! [emoji173]️But I would feel really awkward about it. I don’t know why. [emoji51]
With me being semi-retired, hubby and I are trying to live within our cash flow and stay out of our savings: that’s for our older age. But Jacques brings me so much joy I may have to have another talk with hubby about using the savings and paying it back...

You have had our loving attention all along . . . It will continue now. I believe in the power even for the least among us.

I can understand why you would feel awkward about it. I hope your hubby will help you out then. But I feel he might do so when push comes to shove. I know mine would.

Sending love and positive thinking your way...
