I was totally shocked to hear Jacque singing- I had no idea she liked John Denver...

(Jacques sings...)
"...Country roads, take me home/ to the place I belong/ Loozyanna!!! Bayou Mama!!!!/ Glad I'm home, Glad I'm home..."

If you look right at the bottom of the intake, you can see 2 ghost shrimp, having a conversation. If you look over by the thermometer, you can see Jacques peeking over a piece of driftwood.

I overheard an unexpected conversation:
(Jacques, VERY softly: "Come heeeeere little shrimpies! I'm NOT a turtle- I'm just a bump on the driftwood...")
Shrimp 1: "I say 2 inches."
Shrimp 2: "Oh, gimme a BREAK! My GRANNY could run 2 inches in front of that turtle and get clean away."
(Jacques: "To blend in with the driftwood, I must BECOME the driftwood...")
Shrimp 1: "Ok, then, 1 and 1/2..."
Shrimp 2: "BORRRR-ING!"
Shrimp 1: "Ok, wise guy, how close can YOU get and still get away safe?"
Shrimp 2: "1/16 of an inch."
Shrimp 1: "NO WAY!"
Shrimp 2: "Here, hold my beer..."
(Jacques: "I am ONE with the drift...what was that?????")
Shrimp 1: DUDE!!!!!! You DID IT!!!!!!
Shrimp 2: HEY! Where's my beer?!?!??

Thinking of you two today. Let us know how it goes.
Jacques had a very good appointment with the vet yesterday, but her white blood cells are still very high.
He is going to contact 2 vets he knows at the LSU Vet school who work with mud turtles more than he does and present her case to them for suggestions. :) I'm STILL trying to get the little brat to EAT...

I’m sorry to hear that her white count remains high and she’s not eating. I sure hope they’re able to figure this out. Sounds like she’s getting excellent care.
Keeping you both in my thoughts.
❤️❤️

Jacques spent 2 weeks in the vet hospital getting 2 antibiotics daily: Baytril injection and amikacin in a nebulizer. Her white blood cell count is normal, and she came home today!!![emoji2]
She’s bright, alert and active- she’s eaten some salmon already!!!!
