Back to the Salmon. I always fed largely earthworm to my little turtles. Not night crawlers but the smaller ones. Free food from the yard. Sometimes small pieces of cut up meat. No pork.:<3:

How is little Jacques doing? I hope she is eating well and returned to her modeling career!:p

Thanks so much, MissMarg&me![emoji2][emoji173]️

She is still recovering from her pneumonia, I think. She definitely floats much more evenly, but that’s really the only difference I see. We brought her home 5 days ago and she has no interest in eating. The ghost shrimp in her tank walk right up to her, and she doesn’t seem to care. She spends her time under her heat light, float-basking.

I’m not sure how long it takes for her to recover fully. I have known several people who experienced pneumonia, and they had very low energy for a couple of weeks after the infection was gone. I’m trying to remind myself, the pneumonia started with her accident on Dec 8th, and it grew for 6 weeks before she showed enough symptoms that we knew something was wrong. So she may still be a while recovering.

Thanks again for thinking of my silly little diva! [emoji2][emoji173]️[emoji173]️[emoji173]️

(She has a follow up appointment with the reptile vet who treated her in another 2 days. He’ll float her again and draw blood to check her white count to make sure the infection is gone.[emoji2][emoji106])

I would offer a couple thoughts on Jacques . i'm not exactly sure of her diet , but I get the impression it's mainly fish meat and cuttle bone . to me I would think if that were the case , I would think it could lead to vitamin deficiencies ....... I've had a turtle almost drown , once , he was stuck between a rock and the side of the pond , I don't think it's normal for a healthy turtle to drown unless they are somehow stuck ........ vitamin deficiencies can result in neurological problems and anorexia ........ the most important indication , imo , of successful treatment is a resumption of normal behavior , and appetite ............ you may want to ask your vet his opinion about the use of vit B as an appetite stimulant ..........

After her accident, when the discussion turned to the thiaminase issue, I read the pinned article by Anthony P on “What to Feed Aquatic Turtles and Why.” I went to my local fish stores and got Omega One Adult Turtle Pellets as well as Omega One Cichlid Pellets (yes, sounds weird, but the article explains!)

The reptile specialist wants me to try and get her to eat at least SOME greens... [emoji15]
I’m collecting a list of questions for him Thursday!!!! [emoji38][emoji106]

I always appreciate your input! [emoji2][emoji106]
