If remember correctly this female laid a lot of eggs, and she thought they were not fertile because she was a loner with no male contact.

To me, its very curious. It seems as if all the eggs would hatch at the same time. But then I thought, maybe this is nature's way to be sure some of them stay alive...one or two leaving the nest at a time over several days. I don't know.

Most of the eggs look good. There are only about two or three that retain that pinkish, first laid look. So far 4 have hatched, one about every two or three days.

Well, John...here's a clue to that answer:

This particular incubator has been in use constantly for over a year. It started out last year with a whole slew of Manouria eggs in it and still has three Manouria eggs that haven't exploded yet. So, unless the eggs explode or are too light to contain a baby, they stay in the incubator.

Could those eggs still hatch after being in there for so long?

No, but I'm chicken to try to open them to look inside. The gas builds up and if you don't be very careful, when you make a hole, it ka-booms!

Am I seeing correctly? Are both sides now hatching out?

Yup...your eyes do not deceive!

The first four eggs all hatched out from the same side of the incubator...where that covered plastic tub is sitting right now. They're finally starting to pop on the other side now.

I haven't picked her up yet to give a close examination, but doesn't it look like there are too many dark patches on the marginal scutes on that one on the right? I mean like there may be more than the normal amount of marginals?

I was thinking there could be something special about it, but wasn't sure if it was just a visual effect caused by the angle or even a shell piece... or maybe just wishful thinking on my part. :D Still just so awesome and amazing that they just slowly keep hatching along.

Do you ever see the small male you have mating with the female that laid these?

You clearly have too many Leopards on your hands there, I'll be glad to take one off your hands to help you out!
