Even though I agree if I pay for priority overnight shipping that's what I should be getting, I am no longer shipping thursdays. I've spoken to many UPS employees trying to find the package with no luck, finally at least found a supervisor that wad respectful and simpathetic to the situation, have his direct number now. I'm praying this all works out, its been a nightmare, I can't appologize to Randy enough. I feel horrible...

JeffG said:Just to give another perspective on the situation, I have worked for UPS for 23 years, and I can guarantee you that this situation is probably NOT because the service providers don't care. I don't deliver packages anymore, but when I did I bent over backwards to get every package delivered every day. On the few occasions that I knew that someone was shipping live animals, I was happy to go far beyond what was required to keep those animals safe. I can also promise you that I was not the exception. I know that most other people at UPS felt the same way.
The shear volume of packages that pass through the UPS system every day results in a small percentage of service failures. If you could talk to the people that actually handle the packages, you would understand that this is very frustrating to all of them too. Unfortunately, when you call in, you don't get to talk to the people that are actually doing everything in their power to get your packaged to you on time. Instead, you get to talk to the call center where they are trying to handle all of the distractions that could slow the progress of your package. These people only exist so that the true service providers don't have to stop what they are doing to answer your questions. It's not a perfect system, but it results in the vast majority of packages being delivered on time.
As was mentioned before, the UPS system was not designed for, or intended to be used to deliver live animals. After a lot of pressure for many years, UPS decided to accept live animals in order to serve their customers. When this decision was made, the system was not changed. The existing system already results in 99% of all live animal shipments arriving live. It sucks big time that it is not 100%, but the truth is, that is probably not possible in any system. Even if you hand carried animals from the seller to the buyer.
As an employee of UPS, I apologize to you personally for this failure. We absolutely screwed up and failed to provide the service that was expected. I just want to make it clear that it was not because no one cares.
I also ship dozens of animals every year. It is very stressful every time. I have had a number of animals delayed over the years. I am happy to tell you that even so, I have never had an animal die in transit even when they arrived days late. Please know too that I would NEVER ship an animal on Thursday or Friday. That is NEVER a good idea. There are just too many things that can go wrong.

When I was expecting my little guy, I told my UPS driver I was getting a baby tortoise. He said he would keep an eye out. On the day he arrived, my UPS driver knocked on the door at 6:30am and told me he wanted to deliver him before he started his day since it was the middle of Winter and the truck gets cold.
There are both caring and uncaring people in every job.
Wishing for a great outcome for you.

My daughters have been praying this weekend for a miracle, I know it's just a tortoise, didn't mean it in a bad way---but it is still one of Gods creatures, death comes to all but if this Tortoise lives I think I can name her Lucky, Blessed, and many other numberous wonderful names. I will immediately give the baby at least a 30 minute warm bath and feed her, she has a tank all set up and perfect for her when she gets here. Please keep the Tortoise in your prayers, I believe God cares for the creatures of his creation which the reason why he created even Tortoises was for HIS good Pleasure. Will let you all know when I get him home and updated.
