Hi everyone! I recently, and a bit abruptly, acquired a Russian Tortoise. I temporarily have him in a 40 gallon tank which I know is not ideal for him so I was looking at some tortoise tables to get him into something more comfortable ASAP. I came across this Tortoise Table on Etsy and wanted some opinions on its size. Would the large size be suitable? Or would one of the bigger options be best? For reference this is him below. I'm not sure how old he is but he measured about 5 and a half inches. If my Google estimate is anywhere near accurate I'm thinking maybe 10-15 years but I could be totally off. Thank you in advance!!

Hello and welcome. At his size and age you need something at least 4x8 feet. No commercial business makes a table that size. You have to make your own. Outdoors is best when weather permits.

Here is the current and correct care info. Most of what you find will be wrong and often repeated:

Questions are welcome.

Thank you so much, I'm not very handy so I was hoping to find a pre built one but I guess I'm going to learn how to build my own! Also, this post is super helpful. I've found it pretty difficult to find consistent/non contradictory information.

You can also hire a local handyman to help you with the build, if needed.

Good idea! I'm going to try and build one myself and see how it goes but I'll keep this in my back pocket just in case I find I'm in over my head lol

Thank you! I want to do something similar. Something comfortable for them indoors for when it is cold/at night and then a nice big planted enclosure for him outside for most of the day.

Awesome. Some of the members here are very experienced with construction and tools and building stuff, so don't hesitate to ask for help. There are several members here that I continually bug for construction advice. We are all here to talk tortoises, and tortoise enclosures are a big part of that. We want to see you succeed! :)
