Good evening everyone!

I've had a quiet day but like Zola I was nearly blown over when I put the washing out. Was it very blustery where you are Sue? I'm sorry that you and your dad met a rather rude man Zola and I hope the drier is okay tomorrow. My computer is being repaired at the moment so I am using my phone.

Anyway talking of Magpies I remember the garden at dad's care home. He had a lounge area outside his room and you see the estuary and the pier but most of all the garden. I started bringing my binoculars and once I saw what I remember was a Marsh Harrier on his way to the nature reserve. However once I saw a pair of Magpies trying to get rid of a squirrel he had tried to raid their nest just as they raid other bird's nests! They wouldn't leave him alone and they tried to get him out of the garden altogether!

Sue what became of that Quran?

Goodnight everyone

yes it’s been windy here too & we‘ve just had a heavy downpour. Of course that’s the time George decides he wants to go out but then just sits in the doorway with all the rain coming in!
The magpies don’t like George. They make such a noise when they see him that he comes back indoors. Thankfully we don’t see many at the moment but they are usually around more spring & summer & I worry for the baby birds in the nests. The robin is here & is usually joined by another later on.
Pete checked on Dickie today & she has moved a bit but has gone back to sleep. At least we know she’s alive! According to the forecast we could get some snow Thursday, so far we haven’t had any. Hopefully Dickie will sleep through this next spell of cold weather.
We still have the Quran. Pete will take it to a book valuer in Bedford at some point.

Dear Natrah - we took that rubbish to the tip again today, and we saw our first lambs of the season on the way, as well as snowdrops and wild daffodils. So we sort of forgave the rude man yesterday, as the lambs would have been indoors when we went, and we wouldn't have seen them.
The washer and dryer have arrived, but my mum hasn't tried them yet !

Hello again Natrah - my mum didn't post that last entry from me yesterday - she had a very tiring day ! But I'm here again now to say the weather has been very bad today - we went to look at the sea, which was quite dramatic, and that was all. I hope it hasn't been as bad for you.
Tomorrow she has her balance class, and has been sorting out some photos of me to show one of the other ladies, who likes me a lot.If she has an email address, I can send her photos sometimes - I have my own email address - [email protected] -and I have quite a few friends who write to me !
I hope you are ok - I am fine, but not eating as much as I did when I was having my walks along the breakwater - maybe I shall be able to that again soon. At the moment the waves and spray are all over it most of the time !
Lots of love from Zola xxxxxx

Good evening everyone!

Zola I'm glad you got out today and enjoyed the snowdrops and daffodils. How was the weather and Sue did you have snow? It has been miserable here but I got to the pupils and we didn't have snow. Unfortunately the two sisters that I teach both have colds but then my sinuses aren't good. I realise the Magpies are actually living in that tree because I saw them all again yesterday. I may get Jacky to send an email to you Zola and maybe Dickie can do the same.

Goodnight everyone

Good evening everyone!

I've come back on because a friend on another site has said that more dead Aldabras have been found. Very sad💔💔

Hello Natrah - I read about the Aldabras too (it is on the Devon news site, as they were found near Exeter) -they were questioning some man, but no real information.I will let you know if there's more news.
I've been for my balance class today, which was hard work -Zola has had a good time being admired when he met me afterwards. He has been rather cross with me when we sat by the fire - his routine has been disrupted this week, and he objects to that, even though I've tried to give him extra attention.
The weather has been very mixed, and quite cold even when we had some sun.
Zola gets emails from several families who have met him, and at Christmas he had one from a friend on holiday in Australia - a photo of her swimming in the sea - which was lovely.

Hello Natrah
No we didn’t get the snow in the end just heavy rain. Our garden looks like a swamp & your shoes stick to the mud & have to be washed off at the outside tap.
This winter the lawn looks the worst it’s ever been with sparse grass only on the top third, the rest is mud. It does eventually recover late spring early summer but Ive said to Pete before that I worry it’s not suitable for Dickie. Goodness knows what illnesses may be lurking in the mud, certainly loads of slugs. We also seem to get a high percentage of sick hedgehogs visiting so I do wonder.
I've had a bit of a downturn with my recovery as my bellybutton wound has an infection beneath it which is red & swollen & 2 days ago I came out in a rash all over my upper abdomen & down the sides. It is unbearably ichy & the skin hurts to touch & sensitive to any clothing. Trying to find something baggy & loose to wear.
I’ve been to the docs & on a continuing course of AB for the next week plus a tablet for the rash which she thinks is allergy or a reaction to the op. It’s that that’s giving me the most discomfort.
Im feeling pretty fed up as you can probably tell but hopefully it will improve over the weekend along with the weather!

Sue - I'm so sorry about your rash - I keep getting a weird sort of rash, which is hardly red at all, but is absolutely maddening. I turn my clothes inside out so the seams don't rub, which helps a bit. I get an antihistamine called fexofenadine, and also a cream called Dermacool on prescription, which contains menthol, both on prescription. That is wonderful, and makes your skin feel really cold. You can get it at the chemist, but I'm not sure how much it costs - I think it is rather expensive, but worth it. I always make sure I have some spare, and would be happy to send you some if you could send me your address via the private conversation process with my name . I have every sympathy, as the rash drives me mad ! I could post you some tomorrow, if you want.
My rash flares up less now, but it's lasted a year or more, on and off. I do hope yours is soon over.

Aww Anji that’s really kind of you. It does feel like I need something cool on my skin. I’ve been given Cetirizine one a day & the chemist yesterday gave me hydrocortisone cream & some anti histamine tablets which I took yesterday but with no effect.
I think I will see how the GP prescribed meds work plus I will still use the steroid cream over the weekend & if no change I will go to the chemist & see if I can have what you’ve suggested. I need to make sure none of it will react with the AB. If I have any problems getting it I will certainly take you up on your offer. Thankyou so much. Never had this before its a mystery.

I don't think the dermacool has anything in it that would react with anything else - it's basically a"rich acqueous cream" containing menthol, and has no medicinal properties - just a magical ability to soothe the burning sensation. Let me know if you can't get hold of it, anyway.

Good morning everyone!

I didn't post yesterday because I was wondering if I might found something in the paper about the Aldabras. There wasn't anything but it was on Google alongwith some horrific photos. They must have been smuggled into this country but either it is heartbreaking.

Angie I hope you are recovering from your class and that Zola is more settled. Sue how are you feeling today? I have cetirizine for my allergic rhinitis but also have eczema and vitiligo. I use elocon on my eczema which is basically on my hands and epimax. Do you have a temperature?

When dad went into the care home I went down with Shingles shortly after and the rash the was on my belly button but most of reached round to my back. Anyway when I went to the surgery and said I had a rash (I thought it was an allergic reaction or something to do with allergy test that I had had the week before) I was told to go and wait for my appointment in the cupboard 🤣🤣🤣. I felt like a leper! The nurse came looking for me and I said 'they put me in here'. Anyway Shingles was diagnosed and both my GP and the nurse said that I must have felt feverish and I said yes but I put that down to very bad sinuses!

Get better quickly Sue but I think you should go back to the doctor if you develop a temperature.

Hugs

Natrah

PS: @Cathie G I hope you're okay.

No Natrah no temperature the GP did check.
Fancy making you wait in a cupboard! I guess they thought you could be contagious.
It’s not shingles as it’s all over the front & not following a nerve path. I will see how it goes but thank you & @zolasmum for your help ❤️

Dear Natrah,
Yeah 👍👍👍 but really shingles is no joke and I hope and pray I never get it. I took one look at the sore Joe was developing and immediately plastered it with betadine in a gauze pad. Then took him to his doctor the next day. That sore was nasty looking. We are both hanging in there. It's been rough with paperwork but so far health issues are stable

Hello Natrah - it has been very strange weather today - we haven't had snow yet, but just about everything else -rain when we went to the sea - bright blue sky and sunshine on the way back - then grey again - and a rainbow - then hail in the afternoon, making an awful noise on Zola's roof !!!
It has also been very cold, and I've been wearing a coat indoors most of the time. I used to have very good circulation - hands and feet never cold - but now they are never warm !
Zola is fine - he and I hope you are too - love to you and everyone xxxxxx

Good evening everyone,

Angie you have had strange weather! It's been fine here but there were times when I thought the heavens would open. I did get out to the Cliffs Pavilion for lunch before coming back and preparing for tomorrow morning's meeting of the Piano Committee of the Southend Musical Festival. I have just written up my list of pieces and I am ready to put them to everybody else.

Sue I hope you are feeling better and Angie can you wear special socks for your circulation. Dad used to wear these. @CathieG when do you get your puppy?

The Magpies were very busy again today alongwith a very musical Great Tit. Also a very interesting memory came up on Facebook. It took place in the carpark of the old flat when the friendly neighbourhood Tabby decided to go after a couple of Magpies. They flew up and then they came down again to tell him to buzz off 🤣🤣🤣. Luckily all three of them were okay.

Goodnight everyone

Natrah, Sleeping Beauty and Angel Daisy
