Yes how are you Sue?

Natrah
Doing ok thanks Natrah. Pete doesn’t take anything for his nose/sinus as nothing was helping & in normal times he just puts up with it but always sounds like he’s got a cold so when he does have one it’s quite bad. I guess it will pass eventually.
How are you doing? Have you got your computer back now?

Dear Sue,

I'm okay although I am a bit anxious about but that said I had a good night. At the moment I can only keep the landlords and other neighbours informed. Anyway they are well aware that they need to be quiet at night now. I tried to buy Jacky's ProT5 basking light today but they didn't the wattage or size that I wanted at PetsAtHome so I shall have to go the World Of Exotics shop where I got it from in the first place. I got the computer back this afternoon so I can start to use it properly tomorrow.

I hope everyone will be okay in all the rain this evening and I hope Zola got out today

Goodnight everyone

Hello Natrah - I did go to look at the sea, but it was rather misty, so I couldn't see the waves very well.Today, my dad was feeding the robin, who was standing on his hand, and there was a female robin watching too. The one on his hand started to sing a very quiet song, which I believe is called an "undersong" which my dad thought was to encourage the female to come to his hand. So my dad started whistling a very quiet undersong too with the robin, who didn't mind at all. The female got closer, but didn't fly up to his hand - not yet ! It's so lovely to have friendly birds in the garden - we didnt have as many during the past 2 years, while the builders were next-door.
I hope you have a peaceful night. Love from me and my mum to you and toall my tortoise friends from

Hello again Natrah- I hope you have had a good day. It has been very wet here, and when we went to look at the sea, we passed lots of fields that were totally covered in water - like oblong lakes ! I was very good with my mum today, anddidn't attack her shoes when she was in my conservatory, and I had a lovely time being stroked by the fire before supper - I just sneezed at her a couple of times ! (It was because I had eaten something squishy, and I don't actually have a cold .)

Good evening everyone!

Zola, Ernie, Dickie and Sherman below are pictures that I took just before going into the Cliffs Pavilion for some lunch. We've had weird weather like Zola and Ernie we had rain but then we had sea mist, sunny spells and later a massive hailstorm! I always think of Zola and his dad when I see the sea.

When I got home I looked at flats to buy and rent and I think it is best to buy. At the moment I need to calculate what I can spend again and as I will be sixty in August it could be worth considering retirement flats. However the last couple of nights have been more peaceful and I need to consider Jacky as well.

Anyway I hope Pete is feeling better and I really feel for him because it is a long drawn out process recovering from sinusitis. I find that the central heating affects me nevermind the hay-fever season.

I also thought of Zola, Angie and Richard when a Robin landed on the path in front of me!

Goodnight everyone

Wow Natrah you did have a mixed bag of weather!
It rained heavily during the night. We have some flooding as well near to the duel carriageway & the river is very high so it won’t take much for the fields adjacent to be flooded again.
Dickie has woken up !!
Pete left her moving about in her box for today but once the architect has been tomorrow & if the weather is sunny like today then he will let her go in the garden for a while. He can block off the escape routes with bricks. Hoping for some rain free days so our lawn can dry out, it’s too muddy for her at the moment.

Good luck with the flat search. Would a bungalow be too much money? At least you would have your own garden. It’s probably a good time to start looking.

Goodnight

Good evening everyone!

How is everyone? I hope Pete is feeling better. Dickie and Zola did you go out today? It been much calmer here and I was able to dry my washing. I say it is calmer but the temperature must have dropped during the night because there condensation on the window in the spare room and Jacky's fridge temperature dropped to 5.9 degrees Celsius. I have got it hovering around 6.5 degrees at the moment but I am going to nudge it up slightly on Thursday.

How did the architect get on today? I bet it won't before you sign the contracts. I don't think I will be able to afford a bungalow but possibly a flat with a garden.

I thought I might attach a photo of Hadleigh Castle and also Prittlewell Cluniac Priory. I would like to find out more about the monk that haunts it and I must go back and look at the war plaques because my great-uncle could be there!

Goodnight everyone

Hello Natrah - I have just put Zola to bed - he has been watching a programme about Bavarian castles with us ( and having his head stroked more or less constantly ) He wasn't in such a good mood earlier today - he got restless by the fire, after having a go at attacking my feet - sometimes I really don't know what sets him off - probably he doesn't know either !
Thanks for the photos - have you met the ghostly monk yourself ? If you go there, you should take Jacky with you - she would soon scare off any monk, I'm sure ! I don't suppose he would ever have seen a tortoise.!
Like Sue says, it would be worth checking out bungalows - a garden, and nobody living right next to you. Also no stairs - our house is a bungalow, and I'm glad of that , because of being wobbly.
Richard has put up a new bird-table, and the first bird to arrive was a nuthatch in fact, he came twice, at least. They don't seem to like being among a lot of other birds, preffering to eat on their own.
Goodnight - love to all Zolas friends, and especially you,Natrah xxxxx

I'm afraid I haven't seen the monk Angie but I can imagine him gliding around the monastery. I like to imagine ghosts and I have been to the site of what was the most haunted house in Britain Borley Rectory. Borley Village is very pretty and your imagination can go wild.

Hi Natrah
yes Dickie has been outside this afternoon after having a long soak. She has lost about 3 oz during hibernation. She was given some food & her favourite cherries but didn’t eat anything. She probably won’t eat until it gets a bit warmer.
Re bungalows, I wondered if your council have ones for the over 55/60 age group?
The architect & buyer visited today & may need to come back again according to the estate agent. No one was there as his sister thinks it’s best to leave them to it. I hope they don’t move anything that’s blocking Dickie in the garden. If the weather gets cold again she will be moved into the kitchen.
The sanctuary where Pete does his voluntary DIY was featured on Songs of Praise yesterday. It only really showed the hedgehogs in the wildlife unit where Pete has been working putting up stainless steel against the walls as splash backs. If you wanted to see it on iplayer the short excerpt shows Annie who runs the place with her husband ( who wasn’t in it) & comes before the hymn All Things Bright & Beautiful. Don’t think it’s very far into the programme.
Today we got the upsetting news that a neighbour of over 30 yrs has died today. We don’t know the details yet but we understand he was in a collision with a vehicle, we think he was a pedestrian. Been very upset about it today. He was a lovely man & saved the newspapers for us to take to the sanctuary. His poor wife & family. We knew something was going on as the son’s cars were there early this morning & the police.….
RIP Terry.

Dear Sue,

I'm very sorry to hear about your neighbour he sounds a lovely man. I'm thinking of his family at this time and also you and Pete. It's awful when it's as sudden as that and I hope didn't suffer.

It's worth looking into bungalows for the over 60s as it would be excellent for myself and Jacky. It's been mild here and I shall adjust Jacky's temperature again on Thursday but they do say it could turn colder again. Therefore Dickie could go back into hibernation so I wouldn't give her cherries just yet but she might nibble a bit of grass. I'll try and watch Songs Of Praise on iPlayer.

I have been out today and I had lunch at Tomassi's but I don't seem to be a hundred percent because I feel chesty. My sinuses were playing last week because I felt a bit stressed with the neighbours but they have been quieter. Anyway I hope Pete's feeling better and that you're okay.

Zola I hope you and your parents are okay and that you all got out today. Have you been eating your Radicchio? @AmandaF, @Cathie G and @MenagerieGrl I hope you're all okay and not to mention @Chefdenoel10 and GGGGGAAAARRRYYYY!

Goodnight everyone but I'm thinking of Sue and Pete especially.

Dear Natrah
I hope you will be ok. This chesty cough going round is quite bad. Pete isn’t well & has gone to bed. I’ve told him to ring the GP as I think he needs AB as what he coughs up isnt normal. I’ll keep pushing him as he doesn’t like making a fuss.
Dickie hasn’t eaten any cherries. Something nibbled the cabbage but it may not have been Dickie. She will be moved into the kitchen if it gets colder so I don’t think she will go back to sleep as the heating is on albeit low. Pete said there’s no point in setting up the lamp as she will have the whole kitchen to roam round. She gets stressed if she is confined to a small space having been used to plenty of room.
Don’t worry about us we’ll be fine, concentrate on keeping yourself well x

Dear Natrah - I am very sorry you are not feeling well - I am fine, and my mum said I seem back to my usual self. I ate more today, and I was very good sitting by the fire with my mum - I climbed up to her shoulder and pressed my shell against her warm cheek - we stayed like that for quite a long time.
We did go out to look at the sea, but it was quite misty and rather cold.
Take care - I hope you will feel better soon.
Love from Zola xxxxx

Dear Natrah - I hope you are feeling a bit better today. I haven't done anything very interesting today, except look at the sea, but tomorrow I will be visiting Uncle Henry the vet, who works at Bideford, on the way to Barnstaple, where I get my radicchio. Uncle Henry is a nice person, even though he files my beak, to which I strongly object -then I can look forward to seeing Uncle John Patt, who has lots of radicchio in his storehouse. Then we will come home. It has been very wet and windy, so I hope the weather will be better tomorrow.
Lots of love from Zola to you and all my forum friends xxxxxx

Dear Zola,

You deserve a treat after having your beak filed. I may take Jacky for a check up when she's awake and I shall alter her temperature again later. I didn't have a brilliant but I have been taking cough medicine and Strefen lozenges and coupled with vicks on my chest I seem to fill better. I hope your parents are okay alongwith Dickie's parents and especially Pete. I think Sue would be interested to know that the steam train to Portsmouth is announcing it's dates for the summer soon

Goodnight everyone

PS: Have you heard anymore about those Aldabras where you are Zola?

Hello, Natrah - I hope you are feeling better. It has been a long day today - it rained very hard overnight, and it was also very windy, so we set out fairly early to see Uncle Henry, and had to wait for a while. Then he took me to his room and sanded my beak while a nurse held me. I wasn't scared as he has done it quite a few times over the years, and never hurt me, though I fight a bit on principle.
Then we went to the radicchio building - my friend Uncle John said he hadn't got much left, and would be getting a lot more tomorrow, but of course, that wasn't much help - however, he let me have 6 reasonably good but smallish ones for half price ! That will last for quite a while ! And my dad found some lambs lettuce in Sainsburys on the way back, as a nice treat !
I haven't heard any news about the Aldabras, but will let you know if I do.
Goodnight, dear Natrah, and love to you and all my forum friends

Good evening everyone!

Zola you must be very relieved to get your beak trimming out of the way and Sue I hope Pete is feeling better. I seem to be better today although I was woken up at 3.30 am again. I pressed the neighbour's buzzer and I told him that I could hear noises again. Anyway I phoned the landlords and they said that they would see what they could do and get to me. They haven't got back but the neighbour can't look at me so if he is looking to buy a flat he might try even harder now. He and his flatmate and in their thirties and I feel like their mum! I feel that my experience as a carer and dealing issues over my old home has made stronger. I don't like knowing I've upset the neighbour but I am hardened to it.

Anyway I have Jacky's temperature so 6 degrees Celsius is the lowest and I bought a replacement bulb for her heat bar. How are Dickie and Sherman and Zola I bet your enjoying the Radicchio. Angie my former is going to start going to the same classes as you do because he keeps falling.

Dear Natrah
I’m glad you are feeling a bit better. Hope it isn’t the chesty virus that’s going round here as it’s nasty. It seems to start clearing then comes back!
I think you are very brave calling at the noisy neighbours flat in the middle if the night. It’s no joke being disturbed like that. When I lived at home we had noisy neighbours both sides & they were the reason I left home. Not straightaway though, I had to get the deposit saved first before buying my first & only house & I’m still here 43 years later!
Dickie is in the kitchen now due to the weather. She has stayed in her box but hasnt gone properly back to sleep. Pete said he will put the lamp on timer so if she wants the extra warmth she will find the spot under it.
Pete hasn’t seen Sherman for a while but I’m sure he’s ok. I bet they would have helped with the Aldebras 😥
If you ever get the chance to go on the steam train give it a go. Perhaps one with a dining service…a nice treat for your special birthday this year!
Pete is still having the lemsips which help for a while. He said it’s clearing slowly. He still has a slightly raised temperature but reckons he doesn’t need AB.
Our garden looks in a dreadful state. More than half of the grass has gone & it’s just mud. In contrast the neighbours grass looks long & lush. There’s obviously a problem with ours. They do have regular attention from a lawn care company who weed & spray it & give it a pamper throughout the summer & the results show. We can’t do all that with Dickie & hedgehogs feeding off the lawn so we’ll have to try & sort it out ourselves somehow.
Take care & get well soon

Dear Natrah - I do hope you had a peaceful night last night - I wish I could come and give your neighbours a few well-placed bites ! Now I've had my beak trimmed, I think I could bite really hard if I tried !!
My mum went to her balance class, and she thinks she is improving but she was tired after our expedition
yesterday, which made her a bit wobblier.
It has been really cold today - there was some hail this morning - then the sun came out for a few minutes - then it started to rain again, really heavily, and it hasn't stopped .The house is still cold, even though the heating is on.
Goodnight and love to you, Jacky, and Angel Daisy, and to all my forum friends

Good evening everyone!

I tried to come on here yesterday evening but I couldn't get through due to some internet bug. I should have been enjoying the Southend Chamber Music Club Concert this evening but after another bad night and my cold being stuffy I thought it would be best to leave it especially as my orchestra has it's own concert next week. The landlady is supposed to have spoken to the neighbour today I'll see what happens to night. Anyway some of the noise may have been due to a police chase at about 4.45 am because the suspects cat was in the road with a bashed bumper and smashed window. I expect you give a good nip Zola. I remember when I tried to feed Jacky and she nipped my finger.

I hope your mum was feeling better today and I hope Sue and Pete are okay. I bet Dickie has been sleeping. I had a good nap this afternoon.

Goodnight everyone

Natrah, Sleeping Beauty and Angel Daisy
