Hello Natrah - it has been rather cold and wet most of the day, so I didn't get my breakwater walk - but I did have a long cuddle and stroke from my mum. She really enjoyed it, too - I put my head below her lower lip, and my front legs round her chin, and stayed there all the time. At one point she was brushing some tears away, but she said they were tears of happiness because I was being so lovely to her.

Good evening everyone!

Angie I hope you're okay and Zola you sound so lovely. Dickie how did it go at the vets I hope you're okay? As Zola says it was autumnal today and both of us were quite chilly. I am keeping an eye on the weather forecast because I want Jacky to be correct weight for hibernating. I managed to soak her today much to her disappointment and then I w weighed her and I was satisfied with this. Not much happened today but when I got home the cold water in the bathroom was available - strange!

Angie I hope you're okay and Zola you sound so lovely. Dickie how did it go at the vets I hope you're okay? As Zola says it was autumnal today and both of us were quite chilly. I would love to have a photo of Zola and me having our cuddle, too - I will see if Richard can creep in one day and take one.I do find it wonderful that Zola enjoys the cuddles so much - he really does - he puts himself into his chosen position, which is then the signal for me to start stroking ! He moves his head a bit sometimes, and presses it against my mouth or cheek, and it seems to me like he is trying to give me a kiss.
I'm glad he is still fairly small, though, or he would be much more awkward to hold. I am so lucky.

Dickie had an X-ray which didn’t show any concerns. She has an appt with the specialist vet about 40 miles away next weds & today’s vet will send the X-ray on to them to double check. No blood test today, leaving it up to the specialist vet to do if they deem it necessary.
She only ate a tiny bit today.
It has been chilly & cloudy & Dickie only stayed out for a couple of hours but she was active in the garden, just not all that interested in her food.
Anyway thanks for your thoughts. I still think it’s weather related but best to be sure. Think we’ll have to hurry up & buy her hibernation box sooner than expected.

It all sounds so lovely.
I used to do that with my Sally when she was a baby. She used to sit on my chest and listen to my heart beat. Then she would fall fast asleep to it! Then I would put her into her bed area. It was sooo fantastic that such a wee animal could have such big human-like feelings. It was as if she knew I was her mom. I felt bad that I wasn’t REALLY her mom but I promised her I would care for her as her mom would have.
Now…
She’s at 100 pounds and I think my chest would concave and I would need a Defibrillator to restart my heart! 😳😱
However, we still get our cuddles in every day it’s just different now. I rub her head and pat her back while she gives me a
“side eye” as if to say…
“Lady, you’re doing it all wrong 😑 “.
When I try to cuddle with squirt (my new baby red eared slider).. she wants NOOO part of it! She wriggles away from me like I’m about to cook her or something!???
But Gary…..ahhh… my sweet little Gary…
He LOVES IT ALL!!! 🥰😍
Can’t get enough of the petting and the
zoomies around da mammas hand.
He squirmed so fast around my hand the other day that I got dizzy 😵‍💫!!
My only hope is that they ALL know they are loved.

I had a crack on my beak when I was younger and it hurt to eat so bad that I just gave up for a while….

I think it is to ensure air circulation! The pro of the fridge methid is being able to maintain stable temperatures and overall conditions for brumation.

I have always loved your profile pic Chef! It looks like Sally is giving all of us the stinkiest side eye! 😅

Edward also hates cuddles and most of the time he doesn't like pets either. Sometimes he lets me rub his chin (rarely). Probably has to do with him being wild caught, and maybe partially his personality.

Dear Sue,

I've just got back from teaching and put Jacky but actually she hadn't made attempt to come out of the pet. I think this is because it has suddenly become quite a bit colder here and there is very strong so she will be going to bed much earlier. I suspect that Jacky and Dickie are in pre-hibernation mode but the weather is set to get warmer again.
