I wonder whether the wildlife ever sleeps in places where it is light all the time in summer. I've seen programmes about penguins being noisy all the time and keeping wildlife photographers awake. Do you still have snow Edward and I hope Chef, Sally, Squirt and GGGGGAAAARRRYYYY are okay.

Zola how are your parents today? I think your dad should gargle warm salted water to help keep his tooth cavity warm. Also how is your electricity now? I have my Carol Concert tomorrow but I have been putting up decorations today.

Hello Natrah - our electricity is ok now, and my dad is feeling a lot better - he is getting a new pillow tomorrow, as his old one is a horrible mess with blood - but he is a very brave dad really, and he thinks the worst is over now.

Hello Natrah -I hope the carol concert went really well - with no snow, I hope.
My dad is much better now, and got a new pillow today. My mum's headache was fairly bad, so she sat in my room with me, and I rested on her shoe and stroked it for a long time. It made her cry a bit, because she said she has never heard of a tortoise stroking a person - only me - then we went to sit by the fire, and she gave me a lovely stroke too, for a long time.

Aww Zola what a lovely tortoise you are! Hope you're mum feels better now. I got back a little while ago and had some cereal. The concert went very well and it was too mild for snow. My friend actually did a solo and played Meditation on the violin. After the concert I had several mince pies before leaving to deliver cards to former neighbours below are some that I took on the way.

Yesterday my mum and dad took my new Christmas card photo - they do one every year, and get some copies printed out, so my mum can stick them on cards to send to my (and their) friends. And I will,of course, be sending it to my friends on the TFO too,nearer Christmas day. I think you will like it.
It is very wet and windy at the moment, and I think it is going to be like that for a while, so I hope there won't be any more power cuts.

Zola I hope your power is okay. It is raining here at the moment but otherwise it has been dry. I'm afraid I treated myself again to Natale with Christmas Pudding and what my pupils giving me chocolates I shall have to watch my diet after Xmas as I don't want to find my statins going up to 20 mg!

Hello Natrah - we have had a fairly warm wet day today, and my mum was busy getting some cards ready to post - I felt a bit neglected, so I expressed my feelings by poo-ing all over the place. When she discovered it she said "Oh Zola, I have just been thinking how beautiful you look in your Christmas card photos - and now look what you have done. but she forgave me as she always does, even though I was still very smelly !

Today we have had a high of -1 and a low of -6. The current snow depth is 24 cm (there should be 34 cm in my university city).

Wish me luck on my driving exam tomorrow, beacause the temperatures are supposed to get warmer (over 0 c), which will cause bad driving conditions. We are supposed to have a high of +1 and a low of -8 with some sleet. A warning is issued for tomorrow:

"Driving weather: driving conditions are very poor due to freezing rain, snow or sleet, and the weather is becoming milder.

Possible major disruption to traffic. Considerable risk of accidents"

Freezing rain is my least favourite driving condition, it means supercool water. So the rain is below freezing, but still liquid. The droplets will freeze as soon as they touch the surface. Is this something you have to deal with in the UK?

Good luck with the driving test Edward's Servant but drive carefully in that weather especially. I wouldn't mind seeing a photo of all that snow but you really don't want it on the day of your driving test. I'm okay apart from the statins not getting on with my stomach.

Zola have you been a good boy today you really mustn't do that when your mum's busy. The only thing I would say though is that shows your a healthy tortoise. It's been a nice day here but cold. I'm pleased to say that I now have the Turkey but I am thinking of my friend whose husband is in hospital after a bad fall.

Sue how was Dickie yesterday? The leader of the Essex Tortoise Group sent a thread on Facebook warning us all to be careful of our tortoises waking up in the mild weather.

Hello Natrah -Zola is fine today, and we were able to give him a more normal routine. The weather has been poor- a lot of hail and rain - however, we have managed to get pretty well all our cards posted - and Richard got a duck for Christmas dinner, at a very reduced price !
I have been really struggling with headaches, but I think it's partly due to the stress of things recently -I should be hearing about my next head injections soon, which will help a bit.
Edwards's servant - Zola and I send special thoughts and good wishes to you for your driving test tomorrow.

Pete hasn’t seen Sherman lately & no pictures on their Facebook of him or any news on the 2 poorly tortoises. He is due to go this Saturday so he can ask.
We haven’t heard any movement coming from Dickies box so hopefully she is asleep. It is cold here anyway although the garage is about 7/8 degrees. Pete says she is used to that temperature.

Good evening everyone!

Edward's Servant how did you do in your driving test? I hope you were okay. It's been a cold day here and I had to pull an extra blanket on in the night but I know that Finland is much colder. I did more shopping today although I still have more food shopping to do before Xmas.

I had a coffee morning with my friend from Wales today but I hope to see another friend whose husband is in hospital just after Xmas. He had a fall about a week ago and the paramedics were called but they didn't think he needed to go to hospital. However he was still in pain and an X-ray found several broken ribs and a collapsed lung. He is now in hospital but although he is not in pain he is very weak. I know he is ninety but it is still not easy for him or my friend. I hope your headaches are better Angie and that you hear about your injections.

I may not be able to post as much as usual over the next few days but I would like to send Xmas greetings before Xmas.

I am okay, but my driving test didn't go well, I failed. Which is actually really common here in Finland. Only about 60% pass on the first try and it really varies between areas, in bigger cities a lower percentage pass than in smaller towns etc. Some changes were made to the drivers licence system in 2018, and after that the percentage of first time passes has lowered. How is it in the UK?

It was actually warm today, the sudden rise in temperatures does make the driving conditions bad in my opinion but otherwise the weather today was nice after the rain stopped. There was a high of 2 c and the temps will drop down to -11 c tonight.
