Lovely photos but the ominous rise of smoke is a worry. Hope the fire was put out before it took hold.
We have a bat flying round the garden at dusk. It’s too quick to see what sort it is. I’ve had a bat roosting box on the house for years but I haven’t noticed any activity.
It seems there was a large fire the football training ground near my old flat and as far as I know there aren't any casualties🙏.

Natrah

PS: Jacky was smelling of strawberries🤣.

Zola, Richard, and I all sang Happy Birthday to you at approximately 12-10 - after the chimney sweep had left -I hope you heard it ! Richard's voice is the loudest and best,of course (since he used to sing for a living)
and mine isn't very loud or musical, but I try my best. Only very special people can hear Zola's singing, but I'm sure it will have reached you loud and clear !
Lots of love from us all, and we hope you are having a lovely day.

Oh thankyou you three! Jacky could hear you as well. She has excellent hearing and turns her head to listen to me. I thought you all sounded very musical

Dear Natrah I'm very glad one of your brothers remembered your birthday- that must have been a nice surprise ! I expect you and Jacky will be exhausted tomorrow, after all the celebration !
Tomorrow Richard has to take the car for its service and MOT. It will probably mean him hanging around for hours, unless the garage can lend him a car to come home during the day. There is always something which needs doing to the car - it is fairly old, but it goes very well, and we want to keep it going as long as possible. You can't really get by without a car here - no buses, and too far to walk anywhere, really.
It has been raining on and off during the day, and will probably be the same tomorrow - and a sort of cold clingy feeling in the air.
Lots of love to you,Jacky, Angel Daisy and all our forum friends from Angie and Zola xxxxxxxxxxx

Good evening again everyone!

Below are more of Jacky joining in with strawberries, Sunflowers from the eldest of my brothers and myself enjoying Tropical Triumph. I went out to see if I could spot Norah Batty (bat) but it was a bit cold for her. Good luck with the MOT tomorrow Angie. I will be going to see a friend who shares the same birthday as me.

Goodnight everyone

Dear Natrah - I hope you and Jacky have recovered from all your birthday celebrations - Jacky looks particularly endearing in her photo with the strawberries - her shell looks very good too, for her advanced age. It shows how well she has been cared for always. I wish I looked as good for my age !
I had a phone call from the headache clinic yesterday, and I have an appointment for next week - it is usually sooner than this, and I've been worrying that I might have been taken off the list. But I think they have taken on more headache patients - the word has got around that the treatment is available - and they are probably a bit overwhelmed ! Anyway, I go on Thursday next week - but to a different hospital,in Plymouth, which is a lot further away.
Richard is at the garage getting the car tested - we have actually left Zola to sleep for now, as we have no idea how long it may take- when he comes back, we shall pretend it is his normal getting-up time so as not to confuse him. I don't think he would be going for a walk with his dad today, anyway, as it is very windy and rather cold. Here he is the other day .....

Good evening everyone!

Jacky has gone to bed but I haven't mentioned anything about her appointment tomorrow and I am going to give her a little lie in before we leave. I have my thyroid blood test on Thursday and I am awaiting the results of my mammogram. Angie we shall be thinking of you on Thursday and I'm sorry that you to travel further. I hope the car is okay and I hope Zola had a good rest. He looks so happy on his break water. I Iove stroking Jacky's shell and rubbing her head and I can still remember the ridges of Daisy's shell. She also loved head rubs.

Goodnight everyone

Natrah, Jacky and Angel Daisy

PS: I continued celebrating my birthday with my friend who shares the same day. We had sandwiches and cake and we opened our presents.

I hope all goes well at Jacky's appointment today - she certainly looks well ! Our car is at the garage still - it needs new shock absorbers to pass the MOT, but otherwise is fine -which is very good news !. These have been ordered, and should arrive at the garage this morning - meanwhile we have been loaned the garage van - which is good, but it's large and rather difficult for Richard to manage. We are hoping to hear from the garage soon - after they replace the shock absorbers, the car has to have another MOT test, and we hope all will be over then, and we can have it back later today. It is quite old, but has been very reliable, and we want to keep it going as long as we can.
My hospital visit isn't until next week, Natrah - I shall be very glad to have the injections again, even though it involves a long drive to Plymouth to get them.
We actually put the central heating on yesterday for an hour, as it was very cold and damp, but I think it will be a lot better today - it is sunny at the momwnt, anyway.

Good afternoon everyone,

We're sorry that your parents car is still at garage Zola but we hope you do get out today. I had my checkup with the lady likes to poke tortoises at 10.15 am. The lady said I was in good condition but that I had lost some weight due to climbing. Another appointment was made for the 26th September to check that I don't lose anymore and then I can be declared to be fit for full hibernation like Dickie. It seems that a lot of tortoises have been confused about hibernation recently but yesterday I was climbing around all over the place.

The bus ride on the way back was okay until we were half a mile from home when the bus developed a high pitch noise. Everyone had to get off but Natrah decided to walk the rest of the way and pick some dandelions. I was exhausted when we got home and needed to relax in the garden.

Well that was an eventful day Jacky!
Dickie hasn’t come out today & is still in bed asleep. She hasn’t been eating much so it’s highly likely she has lost weight too but she will be checked over in September.
It has been cloudy here for a few days & we even had some rain overnight which was good for the garden. It warmed up later on this afternoon but Dickie didn’t come out & we were out ourselves otherwise we would have got her out for a while. Hope Jacky enjoyed the dandelions & a rest 😴

Good evening everyone!

Sue when does Dickie have her checkup? Jacky is still eating and sometimes climbing around although yesterday it turned colder. Is it colder in Finland now Edward? I think there's an airshow near me as I saw a Hurricane flying over when I was in Rayleigh!

Goodnight everyone

We haven’t made an appointment yet probably be mid to late September. Pete weighed her & she seems to be the same weight but the vet scales will be more accurate. She is behaving the same as she did last August when Pete took her to a specialist vet. He concluded she was in pre hibernation & he had seen a few tortoises behaving the same way so that’s what we think is happening again this year starting slightly earlier.
She seems ok though. As it’s a bit cooler she is not coming out unless we get her out. She only ate a couple of runner bean leaves today & isn’t really interested in eating at the moment.

Good evening everyone!

Jacky had a nibble again today but otherwise she's just like Dickie. I visited my friend with the brain tumour in her nursing home but the visit only lasted three minutes. She is now very frail and confused and kept saying that "my being there was making her sore" so I thought it would be better to leave. My experience as a carer has given me strength to deal with these situations but anyway she's in the best place.

Goodnight everyone

Good morning everyone!

We had pandemonium in the bathroom because Jacky was desperate to get out of the soaking tub. When I did get her out she climbed over the bathroom scales and crashed into the plant food 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣!
