Hello Natrah - the weather isn't as dramatic here as where you are, but it is very cold outside, and I think there is going to be a heavy frost. We have had a lot of birds round the feeders today, including 2 chaffinches, and Richard managed to get a few mealworms to the blackbird, as well as to the robin - who appears every time he goes outside, ready to stand on his hand for worms ! I haven't felt very well today - shaky and wobbly, as well as having a pretty bad headache. I do silly clumsy things, and get annoyed with myself ! Zola is all right - a bit subdued, maybe - and had his usual stroke by the fire with me, which is nice for both of us.

Dear Chef - I haven't thought of me having an inner ear problem, but I will mention it to the headache nurse (there are specially trained nurses doing the injections, which is why other nurses can't fill in if she is unavoidably absent) I think my wobbliness is mainly due to all the painkillers I keep having - and to the fact that I am getting old !Could you have an :

How is dear little Gary ? Zola and I say goodnight to him (and you) every night - he has a special list of friends he and I want to remember - mostly tortoise related, but not all - one is actually a human in prison ! (but still our friend).

Dear Natrah -I hope you haven't had such bad weather today - it has been extremely cold here, and it gets very depressing.However, I have been with Zola in his conservatory, with him sitting on my lap on his electric pillow, and he seems to like it ! It doesn't get hot - just warm - and turns itself off, I think, after being on for a while. It is quite squishy, and I think I shall be borrowing it from him too!

Yes please inquire about the inner ear or the equilibrium. They may have a different kind of medicine for you and that would clear these headaches up right away.
As for Gary…….
…. I don’t know yet.He is not eating and is keeping part of his foot/tail out of his shell but he will not come out at all…
Also… today… I almost can’t say this but since you guys are the only ones I want to talk about Gary to I will say it quick… advice is welcomed..
He smells like a vase of dead flowers when they go bad..
Do you know that smell? It’s not pretty.
But today I held him in my hand and he (eventually) pulled his foot completely back into his shell

??I have put some of his favorite shell cream on him after I cleaned him up a bit and put him in his grandmas knitted caps and set him on his heat rock (only for awhile, I don’t want him to dehydrate)…
So…. That’s that; as I fight back tears typing.. wish him well and hope that he is hibernating…

It is more of a symptom than a diagnosis. I haven't read into it much, but it is easy to spot. It can be caused by a number of things and overall very little is known about it even though it is fairly common in captive management:

Today it was only a little bit drier but I was able to do some washing and I was able to go to the usual place for lunch. Whilst I was out I heard some Great **** but also some Goldfinches.
I hope everyone else was okay and Zola got out to see the sea. Chef and Edward how is it where you two are. GGGGGAAAARRRYYYY I hope you're okay and that you start to get back to your usual self soon. Angie I hope you feel better and it's worth checking your ears.
I am going to busier for the rest of the and infact up to about May because a couple of my colleagues are leaving and I may take a few of their pupils. I have made it clear to the shop that I don't want to work on Saturday afternoons or Sundays otherwise I would never get a break. However I realise that a couple of my pupils will be doing GCSES and A levels in the summer I will have more free time on Thursdays but by then Jacky will be out of hibernation and spending more time outside. I am pleased to have more work but I need to rearrange my routine a bit. I also can't wait for half-term when I shall three concerts one at the Wigmore Hall in London and two locally given by friends.

Even though it was cold here we didn't have the promised ice. So I can't complain or should I?Sorry I haven't been here much. I have this crazy little dog that wanrs constant attention. I've read he'll be like this for about 3 years. He's already becoming calm though and it's only been a year. I'm becoming less of a chew toy and more of a designated belly rubber
so soon he'll let me play on my phone
