Been drizzly & overcast but not too cold. Today sunshine😃
We have an indoor enclosure for when Dickie wakes up which is any time now. Pete has to assemble it in the lounge as it’s 6ft long.
Sherman came out briefly on Saturday. Pete saw him through the shed window & asked if he could let him out. He came out straight away! Not for long though. His shell looks quite dry from being under the lamp all winter. He can move away from it when he wants to. Probably needs a soak. How do you soak a 16 st tortoise 😂

Hmm!! You would need a shallow pond! He could be encouraged into the pond if Pete was in his enclosure with him 🤣.

Hello Natrah and everyone -Zola has a rather confused day today. Last night the propane cylinder we have in our kitchen ran out, so we had to put our spare one in place, in its little cupboard under the hob. Richard realised that the rubber pipe was getting old, so we had a search for a new one, which involved quite a bit of driving about and put Zola out of his daily rhythm. However, we did see some lambs, and also lots of daffodils ! (Zola has some pretty blue periwinkle flowers outside his conservatory window, by the way) Anyway, we got the pipe, and Richard fixed it,so was able to boil some peas tonight !The cylinder usually lasts for a year, and although we have a microwave, and an Aga style cooker/central heating system, the little gas hob is very useful.
I shall have to give Zola some extra fuss tomorrow, as I think he felt a bit left out today.
Lots of love to Jacky, Angel Daisy, and to all our forum friends from Angie and Zola xxxxxxxxxx

Good evening everyone!

It sounds like you've all been pretty busy. I keep looking at the thermostat on Jacky's fridge and I haven't really had to do anything with it but I am still aiming for March. Angie you must all be tired out I hope you're all okay. I also hope that Chef and Edward are okay.

I'll be putting flowers on mum and dad's graves before my friend's husband's funeral. My friend says that there's going to be an inquest into her husband's death because he was admitted to hospital after a fall where they found several fractured ribs and a punctured lung. Whilst he was in hospital he had another fall and fractured his pelvis before contracting COVID. I think my friend is trying to find out how this all happened whilst he was in hospital.

Anyway I better go now at least we had some sun today

Goodnight everyone

Hello Natrah -it was quite wet overnight, and though we went out to look for lambs, we didn't see any - I think the farmers keep them indoors if the ground is very wet, because it is so bad for their feet. However, the robin has been coming to get his worms every day - taking some away too for his lady friend. Richard has a special whistling sound to fetch him, if he is in a part of the garden where he can't see him.
This is who we hope to see eventually! This is a baby robin from a previous year! About the cutest thing ever !!!
Love to you and all our forum friends from Angie xxxxxxxxxx and Zola xxxxxxxxxx

Dear Natrah - it has been wet, cold and windy a lot today (like yesterday) - we even had some hail - and again Zola had his day disrupted, as I had to see the dentist, which meant him sitting in the car in his basket for a long time -it was an emergency appointment, so I had to wait a long time until she had a space. It was because a bit of a tooth had broken off, leaving me with a very sharp edge - anyway, she fixed it, and now at last I can eat, drink and talk again without pain ! Then we went to look at the sea, of course, and also saw quite a lot of daffodils opening up, which is very cheering. No lambs though !
Lots of love to everyone from Angie xxxxxxxx and Zola xxxxxxxxxxx

Can only see what i think is Venus which has been visible for weeks. I wouldn’t know if I was looking at a star or planet when trying to see the others though. Been raining heavily here so not a clear sky.

Good evening everyone!

I've just seen six planets and I will go out again later to see if I can spot Saturn. The weather has been better than yesterday but it is very cold. Angie how is your tooth? I remember when I had a broken tooth because of grinding and it was like that for years before a dentist smoothed it down. I hope it's not too sensitive and I would recommend rubbing Sensodyne toothpaste on it. Did you get to go out today? Chef how are you and Edward as well? Sue have you seen the planets?

Goodnight everyone

Hello Natrah - this is a rather distressing day for us as Richard's younger brother in Canada is being admitted to a permanent care home with dementia. He has always been a bit strange -these days he would probably have been diagnosed autistic as a child - but he managed to have a pretty good life as an adult, and kept very fit through lots of cycling. Anyway, he gradually started getting a bit confused, and then got involved with a woman online - clearly a scammer, but he spent a lot of money ,which he really didn't have, on her - and his health deteriorated a lot. He has been living for some time in a hospital rehabilitation unit, but he kept wandering off and getting lost. His older sister, who lives in Canada too, has been wonderful, bullying social services etc, and he has finally been given a permanent place which looks pretty good online, and today he is going there. He is such a nice person - I met him when I went to meet Richard's parents, and liked him a lot.
My tooth is much better now, though it caused an ulcer, which is healing up. I do use Sensodyne toothpaste, actually, anyway.!
Lots of love from Angie and Zola xxxxxxxxxx

Dear Angie,

I'm so sorry to this. I remember when dad went into the home and I felt as if I was grieving (although I had been grieving when he showed the first symptoms of Alzheimer's). I felt guilt as well but I also felt a bit of relief knowing he was in the right place. I your brother-in-law soon settles and is able to join in some of the activities. I'm still in the Dementia Forum and I have been giving tips for those who are thinking of putting their loved ones in a care home. I hope that your sister-in-law supplies him with treats and is discreet when leaving the care home (she may not be able to say goodbye every time she leaves). I'm sorry to hear this and please give Zola a stroke from us.

No myself & a neighbour still couldn’t see any planets other than Venus. There was a lot of broken cloud but I’m not sure where to find them anyway. How close together do they appear in the sky? Does it stretch right across or close to Venus? Pete went somewhere on his bike to have a look but same as us. I hope the neighbours at the back of us don’t think I’m staring into their windows as the horizon & Venus is in that direction. Then again if they hadn’t cut the trees down then we & they wouldn’t be able to see each other 😡

Dear Sue,

If you find Venus then Neptune is to the right but more difficult to spot with the naked eye because it is further away. Saturn is to the right of Neptune but lower on the horizon. If you can see the moon to the left of Venus then Uranus is to the left but more difficult to spot with the naked eye. Jupiter is the bright star on the left followed by Mercury and Mars is the red star on the far left. My pupil mentioned a group of stars called Beetlejuice but I declined to say that I have only ever heard of the film Beetlejuice which my friends and I saw at the cinema starring Alec Baldwin 🤣.

Natrah

PS: It stretches right across but tomorrow is meant to be even better.

Dear Sue,

Just one correction in that Neptune and Mercury are next to each other between Venus and Saturn.

I think it's actually called Betelgeuse or something similar to that !
