We have one kind of Jackdaws here, the European Jackdaw (Corvus monedula). I think they are related to crows.

Good evening everyone!

I didn't go out today as Natrah decided it was too cold for me however I did have my drowning session and below is what I did afterwards. I just wanted to get away!!! Anyway Natrah says that she may not be able to post so much this week as she has a concert on Saturday so today she got on with a few jobs and changed a violin string.

Dear Natrah and all -we had a lovely day today, though it didn't start well when I discovered that the last radicchio in the fridge had gone all mushy! It was still fairly early, so we rang the radicchio warehouse, and they had some in,fresh off the boat ! They close at 1pm, so we hurried out to get there in time. It was sunny and a really lovely drive -everything still looking brighter and clearer, thanks to my eye op, and not too much traffic. We reached the warehouse in time, and our friend there had chosen four especially goodlooking radicchios for us -or rather, for Zola ! Then we came home by a different route, which was equally lovely in the sunshine.The trees seem particularly healthy and leafy this year - this is actually a very good area for trees of many different varieties, and many of them are huge and must be very old.
Zola enjoyed his expedition, as always, but was glad to get back to his sunny conservatory and some fresh crispy radicchio.

Good evening everyone!

It's been more autumnal here and I've had to wear a woolly. Jacky didn't get to go outside and in any case she wanted to go back to bed. Angie it looks as though we've had a turn of fortunes because you said it was cold in Devon yesterday. I don't know what it's like where Sue is but I think that the rain was confined to the southeast. Edward is it warming up in Finland? Are you doing your end of year exams soon? I'm glad Zola got his radicchio. He's a very lucky tortoise!

By the way, Natrah - I'm not sure if I said before that I used to have piano lessons as a child from an old and rather eccentric lady in the next village -she had her former dog stuffed when it died, and kept it under the piano seat ! she used to give me rhubarb juice to drink after I mowed her lawn for her, and she kept a very fancy Christmas cake under a bell jar in her living room until it could be replaced after a year by the next one, so the previous one could be eaten gradually through the year ! I never got much good at playing the piano - actually, I really wanted to make stuff up on my own, which wasn't allowed.

Dear Natrah - Zola was in a very cross mood this morning, and I really don't know what set it off, though he may have been expecting to go to the breakwater - it was very cold and windy, though, so Richard really didn't think it was a good idea. Anyway, Zola went charging round his room, bashing everything in sight, and then managed to get himself tipped on his back ! I felt bad about that, so this afternoon I held him very firmly for his stroke, and just cuddled him to keep him still. He settled down very quickly, and we spent a long time with him pressed against me where he could feel my heartbeat and my breathing -he really seemed contented, and, of course, it was lovely for me too. It always upsets me when he is in a bad mood - fortunately it doesn't happen often.

Zola I'm sorry you were upset about not going to the breakwater but maybe you'll get there tomorrow. We had better weather here but it was still too cold for Jacky to go out. Jacky knows that your birthday is some time next month but she would like you to remind her of the date. She is very sorry to hear that you were on your back but she is relieved that you are okay.

I was in Southend city centre trying to find out why EE hadn't lowered my bill after last month's new deal but they reassured me that it should be lower next month. When I started walking back up the high street I noticed that the traffic in a very narrow road was at a standstill. This was because a white van was parked in a no loading space and a BM articulated lorry which probably shouldn't be there either couldn't get past!!

I hope Sue's okay as she hasn't posted for a while so I'm going to tag her in this thread and see if she responds. @MoggyMad are you okay and how about @Chefdenoel10, @MenagerieGrl, @Cathie G and @The_Four_Toed_Edward?

It’s just that ….
Well….
It’s wee Gary’s birthday today and I miss him more than ever.
I even sang happy birthday to him and remembered his last birthday here on earth.
He is now resting at peace in a little box but I can open it whenever I feel the need.
I just couldn’t bury him… I just couldn’t.

Anyway, wishing you all a happier day ahead and a prayer for my punk head Gary.

Dear Chef -Zola and I say goodnight to your precious little Gary every night without fail,and always will - together with our little toad Bonus. -they both came into our lives unexpectedly,didn't they, and somehow that makes them even more important - a sort of gift from Mother Nature.
